Pubcrawling looked silly when we opened the box and read the rules. We weren't disappointed. Players start in home squares. Each turn they have a 50/50 shot to get started. Their goal is to visit six pubs (spaces on the board) and then go to the park in the middle of the board. Simple enough, but there are winos which can hit players and send them back to start spaces. Each turn each player moves himself D6 spaces and a wino D6 spaces. Players get winoed a lot.

That's pretty much all there is to it. You can draw random event cards from the blue deck, but they don't matter all that much. The best that can happen is that a player can score a pub. Scoring pubs isn't real hard. The problem is winning. Once a player has scored all six pubs, he has to reach the park when there are no winos there. That simply won't happen; the other players will put winos in the park to prevent his winning. Even once all the players have all their pubs, no one will move the last wino out of the park, because it will allow the other players to win before he does. So it ends up a stalemate with everyone drunk. The winos win again.

Perhaps the game is a social commentary. For generations, society has been trying to get the winos out of the park. We can't do it in this game, either.
