Came across this in a game last night.

Pandakai has the Zombie Costume and 3 Health.

Cyber Bunny rolls 3 Claws, has 4 energy to spare and attempts to steal the Zombie Costume.

Pandkai reveals the Bamboozle Evolution.

BAMBOOZLE: "Discard this Evolution when someone purchases a card. Return the card they purchased and energy they spent. You choose a card they can afford to purchase, and they purchase that card."

Pandakai argued this is valid since Costumes are treated as Keep Cards and you must "Purchase" the card from its current owner....Cyber Bunny argued that this would be invalid as Purchasing Cards and Stealing (The Act of having to roll 3 Claws and ripping the costume off) are seperate and distinct. Once the card is already in play (Off the river of available cards) it becomes a theft, it no longer is a purchase, it is a steal.

Which is it? Any chance at an official ruling since it seems to be a common subject on this board?

Is stealing simply a purchase with a subsequent requirement, or does the the act of 3 claws constitute stealing being its own completely separate entity?

This is an interesting situation.

But I think it should be easily resolved... stealing is *not* purchasing. It is stealing. Just because you're paying the owner of the costume the cost of the card does not make it a purchase. Its "stealing with compensation".

My group would not allow Bamboozle to be played (though it would probably spark an entertaining argument) in this situation.

I agree with John.

With the 3 claws your monster is literally ripping the costume off of and away from another monster. There is nothing to bamboozle.

Bamboozle is when someone is purchasing something from the marketplace and they find that instead of getting what they thought they were buying, they got swindled and are left with something completely different.
