BRAAAAINS!!! Today we're taking a look at Zombie Dice, the game where you roll dice as a zombie trying to eat brains and not get shotgunned. If the game sounds like fun to you, you can check it out here.

"But Capps this is but a simple dice game, how could the rules have problems?" Great question random reader I made up just now! Even the simplest games can have rule problems, but there is also often good things to learn from games with smaller rulebooks. Zombie Dice has two pages with all of the actual how to play rules on the just the first page! Is it any good though? Pull up a pdf of the rules and join me toPicture find out!

Organization and Layout: The rulebook is perfectly organized from start to finish so you can read while learning to play. I liked how you could go to the MMM! Brainns! section to the Brrrains? section, and finish off with the BRAAAINS!!! section nicely. Okay bad attempt at humor aside, normally I wouldn't use something like this in your rules so that people know where to go, but with a one page rulebook that bit of humor is acceptable.

Also something very cool. At the very end of the rulebook you can find a link and explanation as to how to find the rules in different languages which is really cool to see.

Clarity: The rules were clear and simple, I didn't find myself confused at any point.

Graphics: There is only one picture really in the Zombie Dice rulebook but it is used incredibly well. Brain, Shotgun, and Footprints and shown directly next to where the rules are explaining their effect. A smart layout decision and a great way to use the limited space of one page wisely!

Depth: Remember my bad joke earlier? Brrrains? section (with a question mark) is where it covers the one special situation of the game and it does this well. Even with humor that section lets me know a question is being answered as well, VERY clever.

Writing: No grammar mistakes or typos of any kind to be found! Minus the random bits of brains snuck here and there (even in the credits) there is no fluff in the writing, and I'm not about to hold it against a zombie game to put a few brain jokes in there especially when the don't hurt the reading of the rules in any way. Humor can be good and bad in rulebooks, this rulebook does it right.

As a lover of horror films Susan is an expert on zombies, dice, and rulebooks. On the Susan Rating Scale this game gets:

Two Curls Up!

Susan's Explanation: This is how you get your rules onto a single page and do it well! Smart layout choices, good graphics, and a bit of humor all in one easy to learn rulebook package. I enjoyed this rulebook so much I decided it had to be:

Well there you have it folks, another rulebook review! We have to run and grab a shotgun as zombies are banging on or door, but if you have any comments on the review let us know below!
