How are you supposed to move the wandering monsters? Do the move toward the nearest player unit? Just sit at the pit where they spawned?

Sorry, it is probably somewhere obvious in the rules, but I just can't find it.

Event cards are the main way which Wandering Monsters move.

Other effects from spells, items and monsters in squads can also push them around.

They do not automatically move each turn.

That´s true with one exception. If at the pit is already some creature and you have to spawn another creature at the same pit, which is not able to create legal squad with original creature (for example original creature is medium sized and newly spawned creature is also medium sized), you have to move this creature one space off the pit. Spawning player choice where creature will be moved.

Great, thanks guys!

That brings up another question: So, when you head up to a spawn pit with your unit and there are resources and a wandering monster at the spawn pit, can you grab the resources from the spawn pit and use them to bribe the wandering monster? Or do you need to kill/subdue the wandering monster and then grab the resources from the spawn pit?

You need to move over the spawn pit to collect any resources, items or spells which are on it. But if you move next to any wandering monster or enemy squad your movement ends and combat will ensue either straight away if your squad hasn't had its' action, or at the start of your next turn if it has.

So: you need to defeat the monster on the spawn pit and then move over the pit to collect the stuff on it (together with any newly chopped up, defeated monster bits = gore). Remember though that a combat action ends the movement of the squad which instigated the combat, so you would need to have a different squad available if you wanted to pick up the resouces etc. on the same turn that you defeated the monster on the spawn pit.

Ah!!! Great, thanks! I was playing that you just had to get next to the spawn to grab the resources, will change that in the future.

Thanks everyone, everything else felt clear and with the videos here, I think I've pretty much got it ... sweet game!
