We will have our second ever tourney of X-wing minis on the 31st. I played Paul Heaver's list and ended 2nd place on the first. I experimented on several lists, even explored Imperial ones, but I find myself more comfortable with a 4-ship list.

Now looking at our local meta, I modified my first list and came up with this:

Wedge Antilles + Swarm Tactics
Biggs Darklighter
Blue Squadron Pilot x2
100 pts

So I traded the Advanced Sensors for a chance of a better shot in the form of Wedge's innate ability. Predicting our meta to be full of Hans and Bobas so I opted for a high PS skill list.

What do you guys think? Suggestions?

I think biggs without an R2 unit is pretty vulnerable.

That only gets your 2-speed hard turns from white to green. I don't expect Biggs to be stressed often enough to consider him "vulnerable" without it.

One of the players in my area has been running your list, and he seems to be fairly happy with it.
Although I think he prefers the Bs to have advanced sensors.

At my store championship's final round I used Paul Heaver's list, and my opponent used the list you just mentioned. It was a close game. The last round of combat came down to my Dagger (2 hull) w/ TL+F vs his Blue w/ TL+F (3 hull) @ Range 1. With my 4 dice I rolled 2 hits & 2 blanks, spent the TL to reroll the blanks, hoping I wouldn't whiff them, and then got a hit + focus, spent the focus, for a total of 4 hits. He could only evade one so the other 3 hits went through giving me the win, but that battle could have easily gone either way.

In short, either XXBB list is really good for the current meta. Yours might even be better for your region's specific meta.

I ponder about this list too. I never know how to run Biggs/Wedge and what wingmen to accompany them. Are stock blue's really that much better than Rookie X-wings? I know people really like the extra 3 hp on the ship, which is nice, no doubt, but man is the dial awful. If you have access to Tarn Mison, he could be an adequate filler in the list. Drop a blue to a rookie x-wing, then run Tarn.

Alternatively, I've seen Biggs/Wedge run as follows:

Wedge + PtL + R2 Astromech
Biggs
Rookie X-wing x 2
100 pts.

If you can't separate yourself from the extra hp, go with the blues. It's probably more about how you fly the squad and the meta than anything else, practice up and I'm sure you'll do fine . Good luck!

Thanks for the input. Just some updates, got to play my list vs a Chewie with escorts, Krassis with mini swarm and a mirror.

I won 2-1, losing to the Krassis mainly because of a miscalculation on my end in my attempt to limit the Firesprays's movement.

The mirror was a member of my playgroup heavily considering flying my list and wanted to test it out, so i took the opportunity to test it against a mirror. it was a tight match, my only advantage was that i was able to down his biggs earlier via focused fire.

i'm pretty confident with this list. will post updates here.

Nice, yeah 4-ship rebel vs 4-ship rebel can get ugly pretty quick. So many red dice, something's bound to give . Was the mirror running 2B's and 2X's as well? I wonder how the traditional 4X list fairs against it, I'm guessing the extra hp on the B-wing is just too much most of the time :/. Poor X-wing

I ran almost the exact same list in the Adepticon tournament back in April. Mine changed one of the b-wings for rookie. I ended up winning the tourny, about 24 or so people. It is a very strong list, fairly easy to keep in formation. I also won a store championship with the list. As others have said, XXBB is strong overall. My only comment would be that one of the X really should be biggs and you should know how to fly him. Additionally, I kept Wedge up front and just played leap frog. It is a little risky, but helps get that extra range bonus sometimes.
