I respect the craftsmanship of the figures, but much prefer handling wooden pawns...any way to pick up the 'officially licensed' Snowdonia pawns??

Not that I know of, I'm afraid.

David I would think the only realistic way would be to buy a first edition with wood pawns on the used market on eBay , then re-sell your later copy ( if indeed you have one).

I too appreciate the plastic minis, they really are superb but I am a wood man too!, we play with the wood pawns even though I purchased the plastic men

Actually the best way would be to privately message an owner whose rating of Snowdonia dates back to before the 2nd edition and ask whether he’d be interested in trading his wooden pawns for your plastic men.

[edit]

Sorry, I am not one of these.

Are the pawns the ONLY difference in the printings?

Ditto to what Jon recommends. And ditto to me being one that won't trade my wooden pawns. I love them so much I even did a photo shoot of them:

Wood > Plastic.

However, look at what can be done with 'plastic' :-)

can it be confirmed that the figures are the only difference between printings (I also picked up the expansion)?

There were some small changes to the rule set.

In fact, I think that an error was introduced (per Tony's feedback), but it might be only in the printed version (and not the online rules).

I will try to check mine tonight and update here with details.

I thought there was a scenario or something added as well?

David,

In the second edition:
a) the bag is bigger (!)
b) the figures replace the wood, and
c) the rulebook has some tweaks for clarity!

Cheers,
Tony

David,

If you backed the KS campaign, you also got Snowdonia: Britannia Bridge but that wasn't in the actual box.

There were some small changes to the rule set.

In fact, I think that an error was introduced (per Tony's feedback), but it might be only in the printed version (and not the online rules).

I will try to check mine tonight and update here with details.

I have found two changes in the printed rules that came with my version from Indie Boards & Cards compared to those online.

Under "Components," the online rules refers to "5 Alternative action cards," while the new printed rules call them "5 Alternative action space cards."

This isn't a big deal, although it did change the spacing of the different lines of text, meaning that the names of the components don't line up with the corresponding illustrations in the printed rules.

More significantly, the printed rules include a sentence under the "Lay Track" event on page 10 that does not appear in the online rules: "Any Rubble cubes on Station cards are not removed by this event."

Unfortunately, this added sentence is incorrect. The event does remove Rubble cubes on Station cards.

The designer made this clear here: "if the game lays track beyond a station leaving orphan rubble, clear that rubble away too."

I'll second that. Anyone willing to trade or sell their wooden pawns please send me a message. The minis are good, but for something like this I'd prefer the wooden pawns.

Anyone owning Pillars of the Earth have a suitable alternative, for four players at least. Nice to have the originals though.

Picking up a copy from my FLGS tomorrow. Not sure how long it's been on the shelf but I imagine it's 2nd edition.

Edit I realise you need a surveyor too, so forget the Pillars reference lol
