Thurn & Taxis wins the 2006 Spiel des Jahres.

German commentary here:

http://www.spieldesjahres.de/cms/front_content.php?idcatart=...

"The game works with any number of players and is a good experience for pros as well as occasional games. "Thurn and Taxis" has good staying power." (Or words to that effect.)

My commentary here:

http://www.walterhunt.com/blog/?p=106

Congratulations to Karen and Andreas Seyfarth!

Walter.

I think you need to still learn how to count. This is only thread number 1 under this game entry.

Well, Mik, at least Walter provided some additional content.

See how much we all miss Brett 'n' Board?

Thanks Larry!

Yes, we do miss Brett & Board. It's one thing to have someone tell you something you didn't know, it's another thing to have Mik Svellov tell you something you didn't know that you didn't know! :-)

I've since corrected my blog entry to congratulate the correct publisher . . .

Great game. A worthy SdJ winner.

Walter ("I made the front page for the first time!")

Pros?

I can get paied for doing this?!?!?!

I gotta rework my resume.

"Today on ESPN3, the Caylus Invitational followed by the Thurn and Taxis Semifinals."

I need a sponsorship deal.

Well, this isn't really a surprise. It seemed to be pretty much the darling for the win.

Seyfarth doesn't have the volume of Knizia or Kramer but every game I've played designed by him has been a really positive experience.

The word was "Profis", which actually means something like "experienced", but they could've used "Ehrfahrene" instead. I don't think they were talking about people getting paid to play games. But it's a neat idea :-)

Normally, a 'Profi' is a professional in german just as it is in english but used sometimes as 'very experienced' (so to say 'could be a professional if there was a profession of that kind').
