Hi, I've recently purchased a used copy of Avalon Hill The Guns of August, I've read though the basic rules and am sorting the counters and noticed that I haven't got any British 3-5-3 units, I've looked online for replacement counters but they don't appear to exist, can anyone help please.
Also Britain doesn't seem to get any reinforcements until August 1918.
Thank you for any help, especially if I'm being really thick.

You should post this in the wargame forum for better response.

British don't HAVE any 3-5-3 units. Did you mean 3-3-5 (cav)?

According the the errata the 3-5-3's should be 4-6-4.

The errata also says that in January of each year the British may "draft" 3X 4-6-4 inf and 1x 3-3-5 cav and 1x 3-3-3 art, these are addeed to the replacement pool.

Also
In the 1915 scenario delete the 3 British 4-6-4
In the 1916 scenario the British should have 9 4-6-4's not 12 3-5-3's

Thts OK, I can remember this from when the game was released, and the hassle of trying to figure out if it was you or the maker. So no Slothy you are not being thick, but consider yourflef lucky today we have the internet, back when I first brought this I had to buy another magazine (the wargamer I think) to get the errata that fixed all the cock ups.

Or better yet in the forum for the game itself:
The Guns of August

Hopefully an admin will move the thread to that forum.

Hi!

Avalon Hill "fixed" this error by releasing an updated scenario set-up chart and reinforcement schedule as part of the second edition rules that eliminated reference to the British 3-5-3 units.

British reinforcements in the Campaign Game are covered under the "British Draft Rule" at the end of §30.52, "Special Campaign Game Replacement Rule", although I suspect the "British Draft Rule" was originally supposed to have been in its own rules section.

There are several player-developed variants and rules clarifications in the files section that attempt to clarify matters.

Hope this helps!
