I'll be playing this for the first time on Friday so, after playing the initial 2-card game, I'd like to progress to a game with six characters each.

As I'm the only one with the game, I'd like to build two teams ahead of time, but I'm at a bit of a loss where to start making balanced teams. Not being familiar with the various cards, I was hoping someone here with experience with the game could help.

I have the following (the number at the end indicates how many dice I have):

Beast: Big Boy Blue, Genetic Expert, Mutate #666, Kreature - 4
Captain America: American Hero, Natural Leader, Star-Spangled Avenger - 2
Hulk: Anger Issues, Annihilator, Jade Giant - 2
Human Torch: "Flame On!", Matchstick, Playing with Fire - 2
Iron Man: Inventor, Philanthropist, Playboy - 2
Spider-Man: "Tiger", Webhead, Webslinger, Wall-Crawler - 3
Storm: African Priestess, Goddess of the Plains, 'Ro, Wind-Rider - 3
Thor: Legendary Warrior, Lord of Asgard, Odinson - 2
Colossus: Unstoppable, Russian Bear, Piotr Rasputin - 4
Magneto: Former Comrade, Holocaust Survivor- 4
Nightcrawler: Fuzzy Elf. Abandoned - 2
Professor X: Principal, Powerful Telepath - 3
Rogue: Anna Raven - 2
Thing: Exer-Lovin' Blue-Eyed - 3
Venom: Eddie Brock - 2
Vibranium Shield: One of a Kind - 2
Hawkeye: Br'er Hawkeye, Robin Hood - 2
Phoenix: Redd, Ms. Psyche - 3

I also have a single die (which, I guess, means they aren't that viable) for each of these:

Black Widow: Natural
Cyclops: Slim
Deadpool: Assassin
Doctor Doom: Reed Richards' Rival
Doctor Strange: Sorcerer Supreme
Mystique: Unknown
Nick Fury: Mr. Anger
Nova: Quasar
Punisher: McRook
Wolverine: Wildboy
Mjolnir: Fist of the Righteous
Gambit: Le Diable Blanc
Loki: Gem-Keeper

Would anyone be able to offer any suggestions?

Thanks in advance...

Even though you only have one die for Loki and punisher, they are strong cards you might want to include anyway.

Other than that, just make sure both sides have a 2 cost and 3 cost character each. Finding out the rest is part of the fun, and I'd hate to spoil that for you.

I think you will have to use less dice until you purchase a little more packs. This is a 11 dice, 6 character team suggestion:

Cost | Name | Dice
[2] Nick Fury: Mr. Anger - 1
[2] Beast: Mutate #666 - 2
[4] Rogue: Anna Raven - 2
[4] Captain America: Natural Leader - 2
[4] Iron Man: Inventor - 2
[6] Hulk Jade Giant - 2

Cost | Name | Dice
[2] Black Widow: Natural - 1
[2] Beast: Genetic Expert - 2
[3] Storm: African Priestress - 2
[4] Nightcrawler: Abandoned - 2
[5] Spider-Man: Webslinger - 2
[6] Colossus: Unstoppable - 2

Both teams are a bit cluncky, because you should use more dice for the low cost characters, but you do not have much options... Again, I suggest you to buy more packs... With like 10 packs you will open a lot of options.

I suggest you go by themes. X-Men vs Avengers or the Fantastic four. You can go for the natural rivalry of good vs evil (Heroes against villains).

As said before, the lower cards (cost 2-3) should have more dice. They are your base to start with.

What I like to do is take a High cost character and supply him with what he needs to work well.. ex: Colossus, Piotr Rasputin. He deals 2 damages per character level 2-3. With easy characters to field and one or two that has the ability to upgrade the level of your characters would be a good match-up.

The rest is some try'n-error, balance between attack and defense.

Lastly, after a game, give yourself a minute or two to think about what happened. See if you can gain experience from the game you just did. Me and my friend build a deck and the winner keeps is deck until beaten. then the new winner does the same. That way, we force ourselves to always do better.

Have fun and share your good build-up with us..

I trimmed out of your list, got a 17 die team. I know it isn't what you asked for, but just something to think about if you want to try and get close to a 20 die tournament team.
