Hi everyone!
In my gaming group we often find ourselves stuck at the end of a game night. We'll finish a 90 minute game of, say, Agricola or Seasons, and we'll want to play another game, but one that isn't so heavy, and that's less than an hour or so.
So far, what I've described is basically a "filler" game. However, my group usually has 5 or 6 players, and I've found that most of the "filler" games that fit this size tend to be party games. This is all good for the beginning of a game night, but by the end of the night, my group (and my neighbors) tend towards something calmer and quieter.

TL;DR: any suggestions for a game that scales up to 5 or 6, is relatively quick (30-45 minutes) and isn't a party game?

We like dice games to end the night.

Try Las Vegas or Liar's Dice.

I don't think many if any of the previous suggestions fit the OP criteria. 5-6 players, calm, 45 minutes, real game not party game describes Race for the Galaxy and an expansion or 2.

I think 7 Wonders works reasonably well as a game night ending filler for 5 or 5 players.

Diamant? Fun, quick push-your-luck game that plays over 5 rounds, each round playing in about 5 minutes.

I additionally would suggest taking a look at King of Tokyo, BANG! The Dice Game, Fairy Tale, Sushi Go!.

Hanabi for up to five and plays quickly. I find it a calmer game.

+1 to King of Tokyo, but depending on players, it can get loud and silly.

I've recently become a big fan of Fairy Tale
I think it only plays 5, but it is an extremely quick game that still allows for some tactical play.

Paris Connection - A fast (30min-40min) train/stock game. Great production and a great quick game that works well with 6.

Rise of Augustus - A very light strategy game that works well with 6. Almost no down time since everyone plays mostly at the same time.

I've had good experiences with Castle Panic to finish off the night. Plays up to 6 in 45-60 minutes. It's engaging without being a brain-burner, so it's good for the end of the night when people aren't looking to do a lot of heavy thinking. It plays in about the same amount of time regardless of the number of players since the number of monster tiles are set. A nice light, silly way to round off the session.

A big thank you to each and every one of you guys!
I'm really grateful for all the feedback. The reason it's taken me so long to reply is that I'm slowly (but surely) going through all your recommendations.
Currently I'm leaning towards either Hanabi or Mascarade, because they seem to be best suited for my particular group of friends. I'm a bit worried that Mascarade might be too similar to Citadels, which I already own.
I'm definitely going to bookmark this thread for future reference, and I'll come back to report how things turn out after I've tried some of these out.

30-45 minutes, non party game, for 5 gamers, quieter zen-like game that everyone I've met loves = Tokaido

30-45 minute, non party game, non brain burner but still engaging for 6 gamers = Shadow Hunters

I hope you'll give them a try. I've "sold" more copies for the publisher than you'd believe by pulling these out after a brain burner as a change of pace.

Good luck!

End of the night, for me, typically means everyone is burnt out from thinking and calculating so much. So we look for games with minimal thought requirments. Fun dice throwing and silly themes

Guillotine
BANG! The Dice Game
Hunters of Arcfall
Timeline
Rumble in the Dungeon
