I know a new user has the following limits:

(1) Can only email 1 other geek at a time
(2) 3 messages per hour (? think that is right limit)

Is there anything else that is limited because of "new user" status?

Herb

There is a road, no simple highway, between the dawn and the dark of night, and if you go no one may follow, that path is for your steps alone. Ripple in still water, when there is no pebble tossed, nor wind to blow.

To seek the sacred river Alph, to walk the caves of ice, to break my fast on honey dew and drink the milk of paradise... I had heard the whispered tales of immortality, the deepest mystery, from an ancient book I took a clue.

Well, posting spam will get your new user account deleted rather quickly!

I don't know what all the limits are
for obvious reasons, those limits should not be public knowledge

It isn't obvious to me either why documenting such limitations would be a problem. A spammer would run into the wall soon enough. It seems silly to have new users just blunder around.

But I recognize that I am the tail not the dog, so I'm dropping the notion of documenting the limitations in the wiki... plenty of other work to do.

By waiting 30 days and then sending four messages per hour?

I understand your curiosity, but I have to respect Stargate's request not to discuss the system.

But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you… And I will beat you.

Bingo! by reviling the reasons for said obvious reasons it would most likely revel the not-so-obvious reasons. (wow that even confused me) Now that's reasonable... isn't it? shake

I've run into two cases, that I know of, where a bgg'r created a "new" account specifically to stir up trouble. If the new user limitations were open information, then it would be much easier for people like that to cause ill will to grow through trolling on throw away accounts without any fear of being kicked off BGG for real.

A little patience doesn't seem much too much to ask for access to the friendliest, most supportive board game forum on the Internet.

:-)
