I'm a bit surprised (pleasantly so) that they went with this ship for the Imperials. If I'd had to guess at a larger Imperial choice for the wave, I'd have gone with the Rogue Shadow from The Force Unleashed. Seems quite a bit more memorable, given that the Playstation Portable game the VT-49 comes from was not a hot seller by any stretch of the imagination.

Was anyone else expecting this for the Imperials?

I felt pretty confident we were going to get the Outrider at some point, so the Rebel choice for this wave is kind of a no-brainer. But this one just came out of nowhere. Most obscure ship yet?

I was very surprised when I found out about this ship heading into the game.

I'll admit- I didn't know what it was prior to the news- but I think it should shake some things up a bit.

Yeah, I Had never heard of the Decimator before this either, but I have to say I am liking it so far. Apparently it was also in Star Wars Galaxies so maybe more people know it from there?

I definitely think it looks cooler than the Rogue Shadow. To me, the Rogue Shadow belongs in a Star Wars Uglies collection. Also The Rogue Shadow is 65 Meters long (vs. 39 for the Decimator or 35 for the Falcon) so it would really be closer to an epic scale ship(maybe we'll see it that way eventually). Also it would be another cloaking ship for the imperials without giving them the turret they are desperately lacking. Its also not quite the correct Era for the game but that's not a huge deal.

If I had to Guess at a New Imperial ship, I would have expected the Skipray Blastboat (to Satisfy that turret need) or possibly a Sentinel-class landing craft with a rear Firing arc. Perhaps we will still see these eventually along with a YT-2000 and a Ravens Claw.

The Force Unleashed games happen roughly 12 to 18 months before Episode IV's Battle of Yavin. That seems like it is in the window of time they're going for with these games. Certainly not prequel era or anything that would be really outside the Galactic Civil War time frame.

I think the Ravens Claw may be too similar to the Moldy Crow, but a YT-2000 would be cool to see. Skipray would be nice too.

My most-wanted at this point would probably be the Assault Gunboat and Missile Boat from the TIE Fighter computer game, plus maybe Xizor's ship from Shadows of the Empire. I'd also really like to see a Death Star surface play area...cardboard terrain tiles with plastic model turrets that the Imperial player can place and control.

It looks very menacing, so I'll definitely want one.

I'm hanging out to see a Huge Imperial ship or two, more than anything I'd like a ship to dual off with my Tantive IV.

I don't think we'll see the Raven's Claw if I'm honest. It's just not as iconic as the crow, and it's never been featured outside JK2 and JK:A. I don't think there's enough material to turn it into a ship in the game. I guess they could release it with 2x generic pilots and Jaden Korr? I just don't see it happening.

I also don't think we're likely to see a YT-2000 (although I'd certainly love one!) - it would just be too similar to the Falcon and Outrider.

I really like the look of the VT-49 - it's a solid looking tank of a ship.

I'm quite excited to find out what the Huge Imperial ships will be (I'm certain they're going to get some). With any luck, we'll find out at GenCon!

I'm thinking we either won't get one, or it will be an absurdly cheated-in-scale Star Destroyer and nothing else.

And I'm thinking even an absurdly cheated-in-scale Star Destroyer will look ridiculous compared to the other huge ships, people will complain, and the thing won't sell that well.

Putting a star destroyer in the game is pretty much impossible gameplay-wise, however if they made the model, I would totally buy it just to have it on the shelf.

As far as 150-ish meter imperial star ships go, I sort of just want them to make up something new. If they just create a new class of star destroyer that looks like it matches the rest of the family, I'm not going to complain if it plays well and looks cool.

If the options are 1)absurdly nerfed star destroyer, 2)super obscure and probably ugly EU ship that still dosent really fit the gameplay, or 3)newly designed ship that looks cool and is designed specifically to work well in this game... I'll gladly take the third option.

While it does come from a obscure source, if you look at it from a gameplay perspective, The wave gives the imperials a ship in a point class where it had none.

So no, to me it isn't that surprising that they pulled from a more obscure source to fill a hole in the imperial line-up.

We already know what happens when the Tantive IV goes up against a Star Destroyer...

It would be cool if there was a ship with that distinctive triangular style of the Star Destroyers that was roughly Corvette-sized.

Covette sized Star Destroyer? look no further, behold Vigil-Class Corvette. But the ship is 255 meters, so its on the edge of what may fit the game.

I'm not sure what the scale they used for the Corvette is to know how this would compare.

But it looks great and does capture that iconic profile to a strong degree. This could work.

That would be awesome... but it would also be 67% longer than the Tantive IV at the reduced 1:400 scale (as opposed to the regular 1:270 scale).

Yeah the tantiv IV is 150 meters. I'm ok if they change the scale again though. Same goes for the 300 meter Nebulon B escort frigate. I want one.

Did they make the transports at that 1:400 scale too? Or are they a third scale?

I believe both huge ships are 1:400... and that going forwards, that's the scale FFG plans to use for huge ships.

I could see them making a huge-scale star destroyer for use in a massive game with dozens of players at a major con some day.

Can anyone recommend how I should store this thing? My other minis are in a plano box, but this one is too big.

I am building some storage boxes for a Stanley plastic tool bin... for many of the large ships I will cut the plastic clamshell from the original package and use that to secure the model. If you have a plano that is large enough, perhaps that will work.
