Hey all,

I got the Thunderbolts Fast Forces, and looking at the rules for Outwit it says that the minimum range is 6, but Red Hulk only has 5 range. So how does this work?

I don't think it's a prerequisite or anything, but telling you that even if your ranges stat is shorter than 6, you can Outwit as if it were 6.

This is correct. Even if the printed range value is 0, a character can use outwit at a range of 6. If the printed range value is 9, for example, then outwit can be used at range of 9 since that is above the minimum. The same minimum range rule is used for perplex and probability control: minimum range 6.

It's a bit hard to understand at first, but the "minimum range" is actually the minimum value for the maximum range. This game uses the word "range" in place of "maximum range".

So even though Range (the maximum distance limit of all his powers) is 5, Outwit works up to 6 spaces away because this power has a Range (the maximum distance limit of Outwit) with a minimum of 6 and can't ever be lower.

Thanks for the replies, just to clarify though does that mean in this case Red Hulk can only target someone exactly 6 spaces away as his range is 5?

No, he can use Outwit on anyone within a range of 6, so anywhere from adjacent out to 6 squares away.

Try not to think in therms of the dictionary definition of range and use the game's definition of Range. Range is just a Stat. Think of it like "the figure's Range value".

Therefore, when using Outwit, treat the figure as though his printed Range Value is 6 instead of 5. That means he can use the ability against someone UP TO 6 spaces away.
