Okay here's the game for this thread:

The idea is to spout off about a topic you think you don't know much about BUT you have to make it interesting by making it sound good. The idea is to try and make it sound plausible.

If you're not posting in response to the OP, then please thumb the posts you think plausible and perhaps comment on why a post isn't plausible. When responding, please quote the post being responded to.

My entry:
I think the EU will sooner or later head to a point where either the individual sovereignty of individual states is eliminated or the EU will collapse. The problem is that the European parliament has enough power to make difficulties but not enough power to fix it without imposing things which may or may not be genuinely democratic. Look at the way austerity is being handled or the way the crisis in Ireland was handled.

Moshe is a 24 year old Philippino woman looking for a passport. She has come here to BGG to find some desperate geek whom she can seduce and marry. She is willing to do anything and everything to make her man happy except convert to Rastafarianism (As she cannot spell it). Her native language is Serbo-croat, but she is flatulent in English, manganese and Esperanto (well some one has to be). She graduated (with hons) from the university of Copenhagen having read Charlotte Bronte's "Far from
Northhanger heights", with a C in waves.

There are threads about me getting maried and about the births of my two daughter. There are also pictures of me and of the family.

People are implicitly admitting they don't know what they're talking about.

The countries that border the South China Sea should aggressively push back against China's territorial claims, up to and including setting up their own "defense zones" that demand Chinese planes and ships notify them before entering and enforce these zones with armed military craft. If all the countries in the region enter into defense treaties with one another China will have to back down.

The problem is that I'm not really aware of what subjects I don't know enough to comment on yet still know enough to make a plausible sounding comment. Being ignorant of some subjects leaves me unaware of the extent of my ignorance.

The Socratic view is that wisdom lies in knowing what you do not know.

The tactical decision making in modern American Football demands far more qualities from modern teams compared to the football played in the 1960ies. Also, the requirements to overall fitness of today's athletes are much higher than the American Football players 50 years ago. Still, the spirit back in the good old times is unreached compared to the rather artificial character of modern plays.

I prefer the more pragmatic Rumsfeldian approach of admitting that there are always unknown unknowns.

I can't believe what's happening in the kosher cracker market. It's clearly a duopoly but the government allows it to continue because the rich people at the top have captured the kosher cracker regulatory agencies like the orthodox union.

It's just a revolving door these days and the corruption is massive. I think we need to clear house from the top and pass new laws forbidding working in the regulatory agencies for 5 years after leaving a kosher cracker making company and to likewise forbid employees of the agency from being allowed to work in the kosher cracker industry for 5 years.

And the kosher cracker junkets are probably just getting completely out of hand. I believe that it's probably very abusive by this point.

I think that of food, or premises in which food is sold, cooked, or eaten should satisfy the requirements of Jewish law but balk at the idea of connecting government and religion in this way. What business does the UNITED STATES government have in this? It's an outrage.

I would say it should be left to the private market but without government regulation we will end up with kosher scandals like in iowa and los angelos.

It's time we do something! The current situation is just not kosher!
We require that we crack the cracker cartel!

Woot! Hopefully before the cheesy puns at the end. And apparently there really were kosher scandals of some kind in iowa and los angelos.

Technologies or social mores which make it more pleasurable or less problematic to pleasure oneself, by improving everyone's relationship-seeking BATNA, reduce the number of relationships people will form but improve their overall quality (and, by reducing the motive to seek pleasure outside the relationship, reduce infidelity). This will effectively hollow out the middle ground between the single and unsatisfied and married and satisfied, by making relationships both rarer and stronger, creating strong resentment parallel to that of the have-nots against the haves in material goods. Such resentment will catalyze further development in self-pleasure technologies until they equal or surpass two-party alternatives, at which point the institution of marriage, already under stress, will suffer the introduction of a new source of internal tension associated with the varying preferences regarding the uptake of such technologies.

I always recommend a no-load mutual fund, because in aggregate, no-load funds perform as well, if not better, than load funds. With a load fund, means you're throwing away a significant portion of your investment, which will take an equally significant amount of time to recoup.

Perhaps you just think you're uninformed on this subject, your statement is fairly accurate. Did you know when it comes to funds with a load there is a significant difference in how a front-end load effects your return versus a fund with a back-end load?

But you probably knew that.

Parents should quit being baby-slaves and learn how to raise a kid like a person rather than the world's most entitled master/pet. Do not use baby talk. It sounds stupid and only makes it more difficult for your child to recognize normal speech as talking. Just talk to your baby like a person, and then maybe it'll turn into a person faster. Don't go rushing to fix everything when it cries either, or ever give in to tantrums. Just stare at the baby calmly and speak in your normal voice, explaining that you understand the baby wants X, but the facts of the world (including those facts created by your rules/decisions) are not changing, so the baby will have to deal with it. And for god's sake, don't try to keep things silent so your baby can sleep better. Get that kid used to sleeping through noise; your future self will thank you.
