INTRODUCTION:

This thread is be all about the real cops behind the game, and...

This post in particular is about intruding you to the topic.

We here at Common Man Games have a goal to use ONLY real cops in the game from here forward, but...

We need your help to achieve this goal.

How can you help?

Well...

If you are a real cop and want to be a character, that is certainly one way you can get involved.

Another is to help us locate cops who want to play this role.

As for the 2nd Edition, we added some new characters, several of which are real cops, but we might be all filled-up at this point.

That said, we could use back-ups in case someone we have in mind falls through for some reason, which is only one of the reasons we are forming a Waiting List.

The other REALLY BIG reason is so that we can develop a pool of candidates so that the next time we are adding more characters, we can fill those spots with ALL real cops!

Below you will find FIRST a list of the real cops that ARE in the game, THEN...

You will find our Wait List.

If you want to get on the wait list, contact our awesome Police Liaison, Cindy, at this email address...

PPCharacters@gmail.com

Now let me leave you with some inspiring news about one of the Real Cops behind the game (See below).

THE LIST

The real cops behind the game are...

blankblankblankblankblankFIRSTblankEDITIONblankblankblankblankblank

1. Bart Brunscheen plays the roll of SWAT Commander, James Kirkland.
Bart was the first "Real Cop" in the game in any way shape or form.
In addition to being a real cop in Kansas, Bart is a reviewer for The Dice Tower. He is better known in boardgame circles as "The Chief".
We sent George Patsouras images of Bart and this formed the look of James Kirkland in the 1st edition. Kirkland is the only character from the from the 1st Edition who is based on or inspired in any way by a real person (cop or not). Then for the 2nd Edition we are keeping all of the original characters AND adding 8 new ones! Thus enabling us to add more "real Cops" to the game.

blankblankblankblankblankSECONDblankEDITIONblankblankblankblankblank

2. CPD's Special Operations Team who play the roll of consultants to Common Man Games with regard to Law Enforcement issues. Since we are all about Law Enforcement, this group of amazing real cops comes in VERY handy!
You can see a list of all of them on the Credit's page over here...
http://boardgamegeek.com/article/14040234#14040234

3. Sgt. Cindy Fredericksen -- Yes, she will be a part of the game and her role will be to play one of the eight new characters (#9 of the total 18 total characters). More details about Cindy coming soon, but please see the post below that talks about her recent bravery in the line of duty...
http://boardgamegeek.com/article/16072474#16072474

4. Pablo Torres -- Yes, he will be a part of the game and his role will be to play one of the eight new characters (#10 of the total 18 total characters). Pablo serves side-by-side with his dog in a K9 Unit. Did you see this...

More about Pablo...
http://boardgamegeek.com/article/16471330#16471330

5. Gloria Gonzales -- Yes, she will be a part of the game and her role will be to play one of the eight new characters (#11 of the total 18 total characters).
Through our liaison, Gloria recently told CMG that... "The main reasons why I became a police officer, but to narrow it down, would be to preserve and protect and to guide the society that I live in. I wanted to be a role model for the females in the Latino community."
Stay tuned for more details about Gloria!

6. Sgt. Horace Staples -- Yes, he will be a part of the game and his role will be to play one of the eight new characters (#12 of the total 18 total characters). Horace serves as a Deputy for the Kenosha County Sheriff's Dept. You should see his very cool looking armor plated vehicle! We are hoping to get a close-up image of him with his assault rifle in hand, so stay tuned for that, and for more details about Horace coming soon.
UPDATE: George is working on the art for Horace now! A few more details about The man behind the assault rifle...
Sergeant Horace J. Staples
KDOG (Kenosha Drug Operations Group)
TRT (SWAT) Executive Officer

blankblankblankblankblankADDEDblankWITHblankUPLIFTblankblankblankblankblank

As a result of Stretch Goals reached during the UPLIFT campaign, several new characters were added to the game. A good number of them are REAL cops! The details about these cops will be posted here soon(ish).

9. _______ (Details coming) -- Stay Tuned!

10. _______ (Details coming) -- Stay Tuned!

At some point in the future (after the Rewards from UPLIFT have been delivered) we plan to release even more characters.

We are working hard on this, so please know that this is coming, thank you in advance for your patience.

Right now we have 5 in mind (4 of which are a sure thing).

Over time we will add info here about these...

11. Officer Avila -- Yes, she is a REAL cop and her real name is Officer Avila. During her service she was awarded the Medal of Valor for extreme bravery in the face of grave danger (this involved an 11-99 call). Officer Avila is retired now and has requested that we maintain a certain level of privacy for her. This is why we changed her first name. Everything else is REAL! I've expressed to her that I feel like we all owe her a big debt of gratitude. Her comment back to me was: "I'm just happy that you're making such an effort to reach out to real officers and to show officers in a good light."

THE ACTUAL WAIT LIST:

Doug Roderick
The scoop on Doug...
21 year veteran of the Dayton Police Department. He served in regular patrol, as a bicycle officer, and a community based officer.
Later became an undercover detective in the vice crimes unit investigating liquor, gambling, prostitution and child pornography crimes. During this time also conducted online investigations, which led into computer forensics.
For the last 10 years of his career he was assigned to an FBI task force doing computer forensic investigations, and was certified by The Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy as an instructor and taught new officers at our police academy and conducted in-service training for officers. Also was a member of our Hostage Negotiations Team and even given the Officer of the Year award by the Montgomery County Association of Police Chiefs (esp. for his work which helped break an online case involving over 80 victims of a child molester).

Fun Fact: Doug was a 14 year old girl for about a year. What!?! (yep -- it was part of his work in vice chasing child porn bad-guys)!

Daryl Smith
The scoop on Daryl...
He knows Doug from his 23 years with the Dayton Police Department. Was with I.A., and worked seven as a patrol officer, twelve in Homicide, then in November he returned to Internal Affairs.
Fun Fact: With the background in I.A. and the Dirty Cop component to the game, Daryl could play an interesting roll. Wow, I bet he has some stories to tell!!!

The Moores
Yep, Mr. and Mrs. Moore are a married couple, and they are BOTH Cops!
How cool is that!?!

The News About Cindy!

This information came to us from our Police Liaison, Cindy Nowak:

The story is in relation to An officer, also by the name of Cindy, who we are currently designing a role for in the game. Her name is Sgt. Cindy Fredericksen.

Here is the story:

On Friday, November 15, 2013, at 1030 hours, the Kenosha Police Department was advised of a serious traffic accident in the 2200 block of 39th Avenue. Several units arrived on scene to assist. Sgt. Cindy Fredericksen one of the responding officers indicated that two citizens had removed the occupants of the car. The car was on fire and badly damaged. Unfortunately, the driver of the vehicle died from injuries sustained in the accident, despite valiant lifesaving efforts.

The 14-year-old passenger was taken to a Milwaukee Hospital for treatment and the driver of the truck was treated at a local hospital.

During this horrific accident, two citizens, Cole Beaudin and Robert (Bob) Schiess Jr. came to the assistance of those involved. Sgt. Fredericksen stated, “if not for the actions of Cole Beaudin pulling the passenger from the vehicle, it is my firm belief that he would not have survived.”

The response and assistance by Mr. Schiess in removing the driver from the burning vehicle put his own life at risk and as stated by Sgt. Fredericksen, “Although she did not survive the accident, the actions of Mr. Schiess must be recognized.”

Sgt. Cynthia Fredericksen, Officer Michael Rivera and Officer Jon Luellen, knocked down the fire with extinguishers, performed CPR on the driver of the vehicle and rendered first aid to the two injured individuals until Kenosha Fire Department personnel arrived.

For their willingness to stop and render assistance to a complete stranger, Mr. Cole Beaudin and Mr. Robert Schiess are being presented the Kenosha Police Department Citizen Life Saving Award. For their personal courage under extreme and dangerous circumstances and in rendering aid to the injured and in attempting to save the life of the 14-year-olds mother during this horrific event, Sgt. Cynthia Fredericksen, Officer Jon Luellen and Officer Mike Rivera are being presented the Kenosha Police Department Life Saving Award.

To the families affected by this tragedy we say...

Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with you.

To Cole and Robert we say...

You are both true heroes!

To Sgt. Cindy Fredericksen we say...

We have heard so many amazing things about you and for, what you did here, and for ALL you do...

Thank you!!!

It has already been pointed out to me that we should turn this into a new part of the game somehow!
