If you could touch the alien sand and hear the cries of strange birds and watch them wheel in another sky, would that satisfy you?

As soon as I saw Love Letter for the first time, I realized that both the mechanics of the game and physical form of the game would be perfect for Roger Zelazny's Chronicles of Amber. I set about to make a rough draft, which can be found here. The characters that I assigned to the cards are assigned more for the cards' abilities than the cards' values.

I've been searching for art, but there is surprisingly little art based on the Amber series. If anyone has any suggestions, that would be great. Once I find appropriate art, I'll upload a new version.

I hope any Amber fans out there will enjoy this as much as I did.

There's a ton of Amber art out there. Admittedly, much of it is crap fanart, but it is there.

Try adding "trump" to your image search. "Amber trump art" is a reasonable place to start.

I've looked in the past, and fairly recently. Much of it is, as you say, crap fan art, and very little of it matches. Finding sixteen matching and specific pictures has been rough.

The Amber Tarot Deck would seem pretty perfect for this. Here is Corwin's card:

There are cards for all the characters, though not all the shadows you have.

try snagging a copy of:

http://rpggeek.com/rpgitem/43626/amber-diceless-role-playing

I seem to remember the art being ok.

Comic adaptation here: http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Nine_Princes_in_Amber_Vol_1

The old computer game had pretty good art on the packaging:

Happened to have a copy of that in my rpg collection and I took a quick look. The artwork isn't bad, but it's the standard black line work drawings that were indicative of rpgs from that period of time. Did a quick google image search to find the corwin picture from the book (it's one of the better ones) so you can see what the artwork is like before you track down a copy of the book hoping it's what you want: http://www.oocities.org/_suhuy_/corwin.jpg

Love the project idea, I'll be staying tuned!

I think that maybe you could search for illustrations from Florence Magnin.

She drew the cards of the The Amber Tarot Deck.

You can find (at least in french) an artbook "The Amber Universe" that could contain your shadows !

I always preferred the Trumps from the Visual Guide to Castle Amber. The Nine Princes and four Princesses were drawn exactly as they were described by Corwin as he looked over sister Florimel's deck of trumps, which he found in her study towards the beginning of Nine Princes in Amber. Another nice touch are the borders around the images, with each character's symbol in the four corners of their trump. Love the silver rose on Corwin's Trump. Caine's is a seagull. Gerard's, a wine goblet. Oberon's, a crown (fittingly). They are all black and white, but they are still my favorites.

During a Google search for the artwork, I came across an image repository at this site:

http://onirym.online.fr/galeries/index.php?rep=Ambre%2FVisua...

The text is all French, but I could make out most of the names at least. Some I had a harder time with. The Trump for Ghostwheel (yes, there's a Ghostwheel trump) is called Roue Spectrale, for instance.

The site I mentioned above also has artwork from other sources, such as the Amber Diceless RPG books, and other artists, including Florence Magnin:

Just use the gallery picker box on the left of the page, titled "Galeries disponibles." Sorry, I don't speak a bit of French.

Thanks! I'll have to look into that.

Merlin made one in Trumps of Doom.

Yes, I was just commenting on the completeness of the set of trumps included in the Visual Guide to Castle Amber book. Not only do they have the Main Princes and Princesses, but some of the minor characters as well (Dalt, Dara, Vialle, Luke, Martin).

There are also images, without the trump card borders, of the stairs to Rebma, the Lighthouse of Cabra, and Benedict's Japanese gardens in Amber, which could be made into trumps if one was so inclined. They did a great job with the imagery in that book!
