We brought out the game again for week long D-Day invasion in honor of the anniversary.
We decided to use the optional rule, to speed up the game and help the new part-time players, that removes all Mandatory attacks.
I didnt mind the flow of the game but some attacks have seemed unnatural.

I suggested a Variant of that Variant:
An attack may ignore EZOC's while it attacks at a cost of -1 DRM per EZOC they wish to ignore.

This way you can still attack who you want but having friends nearby helps defensively.

For me the mandatory attack is what makes me love this game.

More realistic (to me any ways) combat and it's not just surround a unit but actually having to use the terrain like units would. (Or at any rate like I think they would as I am just an armchair general.)
