The Babylon Project was our last best hope for peace. It failed. In the year of the Shadow War, it became something greater, our last best hope for victory.

I have looked through the forums for several different games. Most of them are rather friendly, even when players disagree on various points. Are there any games where you have noticed a great deal of belligerent posts, not just complaining about something in the game, but complaining about and insulting other gamers?

I don't know about on the game specific BGG-forums, but generally I find the more people play a game, the less friendly the players will be on the whole. Small communities tend to know each other better, and are also keen to expand their numbers, so tend to welcome newbies with open arms. I've found M:TG forums (not on BGG, but elsewhere) to be very unfriendly at times.

Rules lawyering unlike anything you will have ever experienced.

If you cheat and take games to mean all games, not just board games, then that is easy: Dungeons and Dragons.

God I hated that. It pretty much ruined the damn game for me. I was DM and dead was dead. Then someone else wanted to try and suddenly secret rolls and wow, we always lived and the story progressed.

BORING.

You should spend some time in the Myth forums. It's some great free entertainment.

Well technically soccer has started wars and driven nuns to acts of violence, and no, that is not an expression which is the funny part.

So I suppose nothing is likely going to top that.

D&D only gets troublesome when you have a wargamer at the table.

Remember, role gaming books are 'guides' where as wargame manuals are RULES.

I had two friends get into a pushing match during a game of Settlers of Catan years ago. I shit you not, it was the funniest thing to watch. One guy was complaining that the other guy was picking on him for no reason, then he wouldn't trade, and I think a monopoly card was involved, etc. etc. People take their wood for sheep seriously.

Also A Game of Thrones: The Board Game (Second Edition) tends to push peoples button quite a bit. I still love it.

Indeed. I'm not sure on what grounds someone thinks Ameritrash fans are the worst. Most AT fans I've run into have been perfectly willing to try Euros and even praise good ones; and that street seems to only go one way.

I've found stereotypes in both camps to be unpleasant. Even in wargaming
there are whole segments that I have no desire to game with. Overall though,
I've (not surprisingly) found wargamers the most enjoyable though - the
fact that they play what everyone else stays away from is a first step -
my usual groups have been pretty much tolerant of just about any kind
of game.

I've only been around here for a short time, but the Mercs:Recon Ffffan-bois turned me off that game for life.

If you are talking non-flame arguments, then take a stroll through any of the various Warhammer 40k rules forums on the web - but I put that down to the nebulous rules writing by the designers, its virtually impossible to play a game without a rules discussion of some description.
