“"To Aetius, now consul for the third time: the groans of the Britons ... The barbarians drive us to the sea; the sea throws us back on the barbarians: thus two modes of death await us, we are either slain or drowned".” ―Gildas
I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Feels like, but is in fact much better than, the total war battles. The chap "Darth" who made it is a very successfull modder fromthe total war community. Updates coming weekly so don't worry about it being an early access not getting completed, Darth is a dependable sort.
Highly recommended if you liked TW style battles. I don't care much for the ACW (being British I'm more into glorious Napoleonic stuff) but I'm loving it all the same.
I picked it up when it first came out (like a week ago). I haven't played it thoroughly but enjoyed what I did play. It seems to have a lot of potential, however I'd remember that it's currently a work in progress. When I played it last week, there was no ability to group units (which they have since patched in). It'll be great when it's done.
If you're looking for good wargames, I need to mention Unity of Command. It's a finished product with some DLC map packs. It's really quite impressive, approachable, and on sale on steam. I can't recommend it enough.
