Hey guys

I just got finished working on my storage solution for the Tantive and the Rebel Transport. I figured I'd share it with everyone here in case some of you out there were looking for similar solutions.

I started with a Stanely 10 compartment deep organizer (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Stanley-10-Compartment-Profession...). Then I just picked up some cushion foam from the hobby store in two thicknesses. I put down a bottom layer of 1/2" thick foam, then a cut out layer of 2" foam, followed by a top layer of 1/2" foam (essentially a sandwich).

I think it turned out nicely. The ships are very secure and safe and there are extra compartments for components. The smaller compartment also works out great for the shuttle (something I was unable to store in my previous tackle boxes). Anyway, I hope this helps.

Do you have a foam cutter or ... what did you use for the cutting?

Looks nice. I may do this instead of pluck foam if it's cost effective (using my current storage box). Then spray it with that rubberizing spray to make it black and a bit more solid.

I just used an Xacto knife to cut out the foam. It takes a little more effort than pluck foam, but I've found it to be much cheaper. The foam can be purchased in large quantities for relatively cheap.

I did something similar, but a bit bigger, with a Plano Protector 1404 case. The red tray with the huge ship tokens and stands lifts out, but it keeps the ships in place when it is in.

I didn't use pluck foam either. It took some work to cut the solid foam to shape but it works really well now. As you can see, I decided to store the Tantive's removable turrets separately though.
