Are the ranks of the featured blend simplified to the extent that there are basically only flush combos?

What about these scenarios?

Which would win:

*Out-ranking 1 pair vs any 2 pair: 2 black and 3 non-matching colors vs. 2 green, 2 white, 1 yellow

*Out-ranking 3-of-a-kind vs full house: 3 black and 2 non matching vs. 3 green and 2 red

Taking the rules as written, the black blends mentioned above would win. In original VivaJava, the latter examples would win.

You don't consider the hand as a whole, just the single largest group, then highest ranking of same-sized groups.

Correct. In both examples, the black blends are ranked higher.

Like Will said, it has been simplified further than original VivaJava, only the highest ranking set counts and all other dice have no effect on ranking.
