When it is your turn to send a VASSAL move, the wait is excruciating. When it's my turn, well, I've been busy.

, what significant rules, in which games, did you play wrong for years until a re-reading of the rules, or more likely an opponent, clued you in that you were playing an important rule incorrectly?

Apparently, you're not supposed to get $500 for landing on Free Parking.

There is a rule in Breakout: Normandy that is easy to overlook regarding regrouping over enemy controlled bridge boundaries.

I thought the lasers in Fortress America zapped everything in the region not just one unit. It was tuff on the invaders!

Not sure how long I played it wrong, but for a long time I thought (for no good reason) in World in Flames that dudes jumping off of transports were turned face-down if they had started the impulse at sea, but remained face-up if the had just moved to sea earlier in the impulse. (Correct rule: they stay face-up regardless of when they moved to sea.)

Also my teenage wargame group had a couple of combat rules in Kingmaker wrong for a long time.

Rule J: Line of sight. It was probably a hold over from some other game and we always played wood hexes, not just green hex sides, blocked line-of-sight.

Back in 1983, when I bought my first copy of Up Front, I played 20.5 (Infiltration Effects) wrong.

A man is still part of his own group's terrain, even though he's infiltrated an enemy group in another terrain? Huh, really? I played this wrong for at least a year before getting called out on it.

No wonder those infiltrators never seemed to get shot at playing this way.

Or suggesting that a designer made a mistake.

Or suggesting that a reviewer has confused fact with matters of taste, aka "opinion".

Or thinking that people are interested in anything other than validating their personal narrative, no matter how demonstrably irrational it is.

Or ever pointing the above out. ninja
