I was wondering about a possible computer game version of WOTR. I'm aware of the various RTS games out there, but I really HATE RTS.

Something I was thinking of was a WOTR version of The Lords of Midnight, a classic 8-bit computer game. This was inspired by Lord of the Rings, as you'll appreciate if you play it, but obviously the author didn't obtain the Tolkein licence so made up characters of his own.
You can download the PC conversion here:

Imagine the game set on a map of Middle Earth with appropriate tweaks, and you have a pretty fine WOTR game.

One might add rivers, make the mountains mainly impassable, and perhaps make battles more interactive, but this would appeal more to me than the present generation of computer war games.

If (when) there is a computer version released of War of the Ring, it's a sure thing I'll buy it! It would be very nice; finding an opponent able to get involved in a 3 hours gaming session is not always easy...

Who would be the best to do such a version?
