Gaming doesn't stop for summer! Second Saturday is here again.

Saturday, June 11, 6:00 p.m. – midnight

at Concordia University’s Link Library

With the big conventions just about here and the new hotness arriving soon, now is the time to get in some plays of old favorites that will soon be languishing on your shelves. Or learn a classic that you have somehow missed. For example, I plan to lead a teaching game of Agricola for those who have not had the pleasure.

Also, the snack potluck is as good as whatever YOU bring. If you are a regular, please consider contributing your favorite game-friendly snack to share. Thanks!

In case you have forgotten, the library's game collection is HERE.

See you in Seward this Saturday!

It’s getting too hot to be outside. Good thing we have Second Saturday Game night!

Saturday, July 9, 6:00 p.m. – midnight
at Concordia University’s Link Library

As always we will have plenty of games and fun. This month our theme is games that work well with five players. Let’s crack open Terra Mystica, Lords of Xidit, Stockpile, For Sale and any other game you think works with five. Of course, you can always play anything you want – the theme is just a suggestion. whistle

Also, the snack potluck is as good as whatever YOU bring. If you are a regular, please consider contributing your favorite game-friendly snack to share. Thanks!

If you need directions, visit www.cune.edu/maps.

Beat the heat in Seward this Saturday!

Here we go again: Second Saturday Game night!

Saturday, August 13, 6:00 p.m. – midnight
at Concordia University’s Link Library

I know several of you in the area have been going to the big cons this summer, while others have received some nice Kickstarter deliveries. (Ahem, Scythe, duh!) I’m not so lucky, but I do have a copy of Voyages of Marco Polo arriving tomorrow. Let’s bring those shiny, new games out this Saturday and get them on the table!

The snack potluck will be cranking up as usual, so bring your favorite game-friendly snack to share. Thanks!

If you need directions, visit www.cune.edu/maps.

It’s still hot outside, so beat the heat in Seward this Saturday!

It’s time again for Second Saturday Game night!

Saturday, September 10, 6:00 p.m. – midnight
at Concordia University’s Link Library

Bring out those new convention games – let’s play ‘em! The library now has Port Royal, too. If you haven’t played this awesome little card game from hot designer Alexander Pfister, now is the time.

Does anyone around here have a copy of Mombasa to bring along? I would love to try it.

Anyone else have a game you are really itching to play? Post it in a comment below.

The snack potluck is as awesome as you make it, so bring your favorite game-friendly snack to share.

The students are back, so we’ll have new players to beat up on teach our favorite games. laugh

See you in Seward this Saturday!

Second Saturday Game Night is upon us!

Saturday, October 8, 6:00 p.m. – midnight
at Concordia University’s Link Library

The fall weather leads to thoughts of indoor activities. Also the buzz from Essen is huge this year, making me quite ready to play some games!

The library collection has several recent acquisitions: Medici, The Castles of Burgundy, Elevenses, Happy Salmon, Isle of Skye: From Chieftain to King and America. Help us break in these new copies.

I'm sure we are all thinking (good or bad) about the new Essen games, but until they arrive let's get out our favorites for one more whirl. Post your faves in a comment or let us know what you hope to play.

The snack potluck is open as always, so feel free to test out a World Series party recipe on us.

See you in Seward this Saturday!

Second Saturday Game Night is here!

Saturday, November 12, 6:00 p.m. – midnight
at Concordia University’s Link Library

Are Fall acquisitions burning up your game shelves, ready to hit the table? Bring them to game night this Saturday!

Elated, depressed, or confused by the election results? Forget all about it this weekend and play some games!

Special pre-event this month: Concordia's Math Club is hosting designers Justin Blaske and Jesse Bergman to talk about game design. I'm sure Justin will share about his big hit Mint Works, currently in production. Jesse will be showing the prototype of his newest design, Pompeii, just about to hit Kickstarter. The event is free and open to anyone, and will be at 4:00 in the Thom building, on the SE corner of the quad.

www.cune.edu/maps

The snack potluck is open as always, so bring and share one of those election party treats you didn't end up making Tuesday night. laugh

See you in Seward this Saturday!

Just a quick clarification Pompeii: Wrath of Vesuvius was designed by Jay Little, Dylan Shepherd, and Lucas Zerby. Punch-It Entertainment is priveledged to publish this game for them.

Second Saturday Game Night is back!

Saturday, December 10, 6:00 p.m. – midnight
at Concordia University’s Link Library

When the temperature drops it’s time to enjoy indoor pastimes like board games. With hot new games hitting the store shelves, bring your latest acquisitions to play and teach to new friends! Feel free to try out the library’s newest game, Sola Fide: The Reformation.

Speaking of new games, designer Alexander Pfister has been on a super hot streak for two years now. You could spend the whole evening just playing his top titles that will be here: Port Royal, Isle of Skye, Mombasa, and his brand-new hit, Great Western Trail. Put on your chaps and do what cowboys really do – drive cattle!

Dust off your favorite Christmas treat recipe and bring the results to share in the snack potluck. It’s cold outside, so I’ll be sure to put on the coffee pot.

See you in Seward this Saturday!

Second Saturday Game Night is here again – yay!

Saturday, January 14, 6:00 p.m. – midnight
at Concordia University’s Link Library

January means cold weather, AND … time for another PitchCar tournament! What better way is there to warm up than by flicking a racecar disc around a grand prix track? This was a hoot last year, so we are doing it again, courtesy of our gaming buddy Ben Debrick.

Did you receive any fun games at Christmas? Bring them along and teach the rest of us. If you didn’t get any new games, come and learn some of ours. Sharing is what the great fellowship of gaming is all about!

Oh, and food. Game fellowship definitely includes food. The snack potluck will be as awesome as you make it – as always.

See you in Seward this Saturday!

Here we go again - Second Saturday Game Night!

Saturday, February 11, 6:00 p.m. – midnight
at Concordia University’s Link Library

Join us for game night and explore some games that you haven’t tried yet. I’d bet we have some! Let your brain out to play.

While you’re at it, pull out your favorite recipe and bring treats to share in the snack potluck. Food, fun and fellowship is why God made Saturday night, right?

Game Night is also a super warm-up for the Great Plains Game Festival February 24-26 in Lincoln. If you haven’t been to Lincoln's premier tabletop gaming event, get to it! http://greatplainsgamefestival.com/

See you at Link Library this Saturday. If you're new to our event, introduce yourself. Tell me I sent you.

Second Saturday is upon us, which means...Game Night!

Saturday, April 8, 6:00 p.m. – midnight
at Concordia University’s Link Library

Let's spring into some exciting, new games. We just added Onitama, Royals, Concept, and World's Fair 1893 to the library collection. Also this month we have a special event - BreakoutEDU.

You've probably heard about escape rooms, the phenomenon sweeping the country. BreakoutEDU is a spin on the same idea. Instead of finding clues and solving puzzles to escape a room, participants work to break INTO a locked box. Peter Landrey, Concordia’s Instructional Innovation Specialist, will be running a BreakoutEDU game during Second Saturday Game Night this weekend. The game is designed for groups of 8-10 players and has a time limit of 45 minutes. We have time for two sessions. If you want to reserve one or more spots in the game, send me a message or post your interest here.

As always, the snack potluck is as good as you make it. Pick something you want to munch and bring enough to share. Nothing says lovin' like something from the oven! meeple

See you at Link Library this Saturday. Game on!

As mentioned last month, Concordia will NOT have Second Saturday Game Night in June or July at Link Library. Game nights will resume in August. However, we are organizing an all-afternoon gamefest on Saturday, July 15 at Bottle Rocket Brewing in Seward. Craft beer and board games - a great combination! Stay tuned for details.

Second Saturday is back, and so is Game Night!

Saturday, November 11, 6:00 p.m. – midnight

at Concordia University’s Link Library

For Veterans Day, how about a game of Memoir 44, 1776: Rebellion, or The Grizzled? Or bring your favorite war game to teach. You can play other games if you want; this is just seems like an appropriate theme for the day.

The snack potluck is as wonderful as you make it, so let's make it great!

See you here on Saturday!

Guess what time it is - Second Saturday Game Night!

Saturday, December 9, 6:00 p.m. – midnight

at Concordia University’s Link Library

If you have a favorite holiday-themed game, bring it and teach us. Do you have any games left from convention season that you haven't gotten out yet? Time to get them out!

Personally, I hope someone will bring Clans of Caledonia, so I can get in one more play and decide whether to buy it before Christmas.

The snack potluck is a great excuse to try out a holiday snack recipe, too. Go ahead, experiment on us. We don't mind being your tasters!

As always, if you have questions or requests, simply post a reply below. I'll respond.

See you here on Saturday!
