My copy of the game came with both English and French instructions. Since the only French I know is the phrase ménage à trois it is of no use to me. I'm debating chucking it to minimize the box or perhaps saving it for graphic assets if ever I mod the box.

What did you do with your alternate language instructions? Did you throw it away or use it for some other purpose?

I always store extra materials like that (and the sprues that have been punched) under the game tray.

You may end up selling this to a french gamer some day - and in the mean time it helps ensure the box lid fits as snugly as possible.

Good point on the resale value, although I've already accepted this game as a keeper. I suppose there's no harm storing it under the tray for a potential craft opportunity.

I started doing the same with the cardboard punch out sheets.

Exactly.

In the case of most German games this is how they are designed to work, I've heard.

I doubt that phrase will be particularly useful to you either.

This sounds like an awesome idea.

It's a halfway-decent inexpensive wine, so there's that.

This is actually really good advice. I discovered that when setting the box vertically, the components are liable to slip into the other buckets and mix up the organization. By adding leftover foamboard under the plastic insert it provided enough padding to prevent spillover.

For future games I'll certainly do as you suggest.

Placing the punched boards under the tray is a great idea, and usually works really well. I usually end up having to throw them in the recycle anyways though, because I end up filling my box with play mats, player guides and other miscellaneous printed materials. I find few of my game lids close all the way anymore, lol.

Re: What did you do with the alternate rules?
Every time I see this thread title I think you're talking about some variant. It's the foreign language rulebook, not the alternate rules.
