I went with Avengers Movie style Hawkeye.

Tight black zip-up top, black trousers, some gloves, belt, black baby carrier stripped down to look like superhero style shoulder holster, random black strapping, sunglasses etc etc.

Anyway, it was the best I could go for after thinking about it at midnight last night.

My question to you lot is, if you had to dress up as an actual superhero tomorrow (not "office worker guy" or "I've come as myself!") and you had to forage together stuff from home and/or an art cupboard, who would you go as?

Not sure. At my age it would be best for all if I go for a non spandex wearing superhero.

With a bit of help from a charity shop: Rorschach. Coat, hat, tea-towel with black marker on for the mask, diary. Not sure how many people would recognise him, though.

Yeah one of the (other than me all-female) staff suggested I should come as Wonder Woman. I did consider taking the day off and telling the head that I was in my invisible jet all day.

Just to check ... is this some sort of Gove-free celebration, or a foretelling of the chaos to come now that he's no longer there to set you straight?

I once won a prize at a fancy dress party. I took an old lab coat of mine, put a lot of red paint on the sleeves and splashed over the coat. I made a fake badge, put a half-full gin bottle in one pocket and some giblets in the other. Cracked gags about botched surgeries, took out a boy's tonsils today, but they wheeled the trolley in the wrong way, oh well never mind.

It was a party at a teaching hospital in London where my friend was training. I was 2nd or 3rd, very realistic they said.
