I'm running this:

http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1199833/mm-sorrow-remembranc...

and my players are having trouble seeing what the markers are supposed to be. I've tried playing with backgrounds, coloring the "bases" and nothing seems to look better. Any takers?

Thanks everyone!

-Dave

Edit: The char icons are 30px circles, large creatures, 50-60px

It's fun, it's healthy, it's good exercise. The kids will just love it. And we put a little sand inside to make the experience more pleasant.

You know, they say there was a man who jumped from the forty-FIFTH floor? But that's another story...

You could do few pixels around it that are white:

It might not look as nice on the board, but should be able to point it out.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'll size it down and see if it looks better.
My main concern is these backgrounds. It's easy to loose the characters
and minions because they are either too dark or to similar to the colors
in the figure. I don't have an artist's eye, so I don't know what
background color would make the char stand out.

Edit: If I get rid of the ID rings, I gain pixels for detail. I only have
30x30 to work with, and a 2-3 pixel border hurts. If I can ID the chars
w/o borders and they stand out, that'd be the best situation.

       This space              intentionally              left blank.

I think you just need to up the brightness and particularly the contrast of the markers. Here's the same map, with brightness +6 / contrast +30 (in Photoshop 7 terminology) within the colored circles.
