This is perhaps one of the best expansions I have ever bought. It turns a decent game into a very good game. Actually that is not true. It turns a decent game into 2, if not 3, very good games. There is one special alternative rule set that involves bluffing/hidden roles that makes Las Vegas a completely different game. The ability to mix and match the different mini expansions offers a very wide variety of ways to play the game. Many of them offer some interesting ways to foil opponents plans and can easily backfire.

What this expansion has basically done has turned a game I enjoyed in a casual setting a couple of times a year into what could easily become my go-to dice filler. Great stuff.

I have to agree with you on this. Got it a few weeks ago and have played with a little of the expansion, so far. I plan on playing some of the other expansions, too.

Glad to hear it. My copy comes tomorrow. Can't wait to dive into it this weekend. Please let us know favorite combinations of elements. Do you play with 2? I'm curious about how it will work if the white dice aren't used in 2 player.

I definitely paid too much.

However, its pretty much as the original poster said - from good to great. What shocked me was the request from my players to *put the white dice back in the box* as after getting familiar with the components of this expansion. The preferred configuration of purple dice+big dice+event cards had quite enough interactivity and interesting choices to get rid of the proxy player entirely.

Now there are a few downsides
- its expensive, even if you didn't pay what I paid, for what you get
- the modularity is slightly misleading as the modules are not of even complexity and some feel pretty mandatory - and the optional ones feel pretty forgettable.
- the suggestion of lower cash values for 2 and 3 players results in less fighting for second place and NO SIR I DO NOT LIKE THAT.
- the multilingual event cards are tacky
- the lack of a slot machine casino board really disappoints me. I will be fixing this....somehow.

My favorite combination is "kick out purple dice" plus the "large die that equals two dice for scoring" plus the hidden bonus cards.

There is an alternate version of the rules that involves a secret identity type of thing with gameplay similar to the included solo variant that I have not tried yet. It looks fun, though.

Thanks much. I wish the rules were up so I read them to prepare for the package coming tomorrow. Never learned German.

Just an update:

Just played the solo variant. Pretty cool! You only play 1 round, but it's a tough round. You are actually competing with every other color (you against 7). You roll one of every color (or 1 of every color left), including yours, every turn. It is all about blocking. I came in second. A late roll by yellow did me in. But it is a lot of fun and is quite a challenge. The rules explain ways to make it more challenging if you start to win regularly. I especially like solo games that make you feel like you are competing against an actual opponent(s). This solo variant really does that. Good stuff. And this is good news since the alternate rules with other players, which I have not yet tried, is very similar to the solo variant.
