When I'm not looking, my games play each other!

I run a monthly solitaire Flash Point challenge in the 1 Player guild. At first they started off simple, but they have been getting more complicated as we've been adding variants.

I wanted a single place to keep all the variants. That way everyone can play these challenges even after the monthly contest is over. The contest itself is designed for solo play, but there's no reason you can't set them up and play them multiplayer.

I used a scoring method based on Flash Point: Fire Rescue – Fire Academy Challenge. You can keep score if you want, but it's not a requirement. Here's how it works:
Winning: 10 points
Each victim saved: 10 points
Each hazmat removed: 5 points
Each damage cube remaining: 2 points

The winner of each challenge and their score is included with each challenge. Can you beat their score?

You win if you rescue seven victims. However, you can keep playing to see if you can better your score. The game ends the moment you rescue the 10th victim.

In the next post of this thread I will keep a listing of each challenge and its variant rules. I will update the thread each month with the next challenge and a link to the monthly contest. I hope you find this a fun resource and a fun way to play Flash Point. Feel free to join the solitaire Flash Point challenge any time you want. You might win some GeekGold and you'll definitely have fun!

Re: Flash Point Challenges
A note about these variant challenges: Follow the board setup to begin the game. Unless stated otherwise, you are allowed to play with as many or as few firefighters as you would like. All the roles are available to you. You also choose where to place the Ambulance and Fire Truck. After you begin the game, everything will be determined by your own rolls. That means no two games will play out the same.

A note about the setup: Whenever rolls are displayed it follows this format: (5,7) and signifies (row, column). In this example, 5 is the row (red die) and 7 is the column (black die).

The Mini Challenge was the very first challenge and didn't have any variant rules. It only had a specific starting setup. However, it might be fun to try and beat the winner's score.

Initial Explosions (don't forget to place Hot Spot markers): (3,5) (4,7) (5,4)

Hazmats: (3,8) (2,6) (4,5) (5,6)

POIs: (4,1) (5,8) (2,7)

Hot Spots: (3,6) (4,2) (3,3) (2,7) (5,1) (1,8)

Place the first 3 Hot Spots if you are playing with 1 or 2 firefighters.
Place the first 5 Hot Spots if you are playing with 3 firefighters.
Place all 6 Hot Spots if you are playing with 4 or more firefighters.

Winner of the Mini Challenge: bikefreak with 106 points.

Hoarders!!! is played on the Beach House - the four-door house from the base game.

The POIs will consist of 10 Victims and 5 Hazmats. There will be no false alarms this time. When you set up the game, use the 10 Victim and 5 blank POIs as normal. However, whenever you flip over a blank POI, treat it as a hazmat token.

Initial Explosions (don't forget to place Hot Spot markers): (4,6) (1,3) (4,8)

Hazmats: (5,4) (1,8)

POIs: (2,7) (6,5) (3,3)

Hot Spots: (3,7) (3,8) (6,3) (6,7) (4,7) (4,1)

Place the first 3 Hot Spots if you are playing with 1 or 2 firefighters.
Place the first 5 Hot Spots if you are playing with 3 firefighters.
Place all 6 Hot Spots if you are playing with 4 or more firefighters.

Winner of Hoarders!!!: bikefreak with 150 points.

Will You Please Save My Pets, Please? is played on the Ranch House - the two-door house from the base game.

Set up POIs normally, 10 victims and 5 false alarms. However, you are required to include the dog and cat in your pool of victims. If you reveal a POI that is the dog or cat, the animal will get frightened and run away. If the animal is on the top half of the board, it will run to (1,4). If the animal is on the bottom half of the board, it will run to (6,8). Don't worry if doors are closed or there is fire in the way. Imagine the animal squeaks through the nooks and crannies of the house to get there. If the space is on fire, place the animal in the next closest space not on fire. If the animal dies, you lose 10 points.

Initial Explosions (don't forget to place Hot Spot markers): (3,5) (3,6) (4,1)

Hazmats: (2,2) (3,2) (1,7)

POIs: (4,3) (6,1) (3,8)

Hot Spots: (2,3) (5,3) (5,4)

Place the first 2 Hot Spots if you are playing with 1, 2, or 3 firefighters.
Place the 3rd Hot Spot if you are playing with 4 or more firefighters.

Winner of the Will You Please Save My Pets, Please?: a2marzman83 with 165 points.

Waiting for Backup is played on the Beach House - the four-door house from the base game.

You start the game with only two characters: the Rescue Specialist and the Paramedic. The Ambulance is available at the start of the game, but the Fire Truck is not. After 4 rounds (4 turns with each character), the Fire Truck shows up. From that point, all roles are available to you. You can add characters, or swap out characters, whatever you prefer. From the point the Fire Truck appears, you can play the game normally.

Initial Explosions (don't forget to place Hot Spot markers): (3,6) (2,2) (2,5)

Hazmats: (2,6) (6,4) (3,8) (5,2)

POIs: (3,7) (1,7) (2,7)

Hot Spots: (1,2) (1,1) (3,8) (4,4) (6,4)

Waiting for Backup was designed by a2marzman83.

Winner of Waiting for Backup: Dunyazad with 168 points.

Fire Frenzy! is played on the Ranch House - the two-door house from the base game.

+ The game will begin with five initial explosions.
+ You are not allowed to change your firefighters during the game. Once the game starts, you are stuck with the characters you chose at the beginning.
+ There are unlimited Hot Spots for this game. As long as you have a Hot Spot marker available, you must place it. If all the Hot Spot markers are already on the board, you do not need to place one.
+ If you discover a false alarm POI, replace it immediately. Roll the dice for the new location of the POI. Do not wait until the end of the turn.

Initial Explosions (don't forget to place Hot Spot markers): (5,6) (6,5) (2,5) (1,8) (4,4)

Hazmats: (3,6) (6,8) (2,3)

POIs: (2,6) (4,8) (4,7)

Hot Spots: (4,3) (1,3) (6,3) (5,2)

Fire Frenzy! was co-designed by Dunyazad.

Winner of Fire Frenzy! was pltinum with 126 points.

Little Trevor's Fun With Science is played on the Beach House - the four-door house from the base game.

+ The Ambulance, Fire Truck, and Firefighters must begin the game at the top of the board. After the game has started, they may move around as they wish.
+ There are no Hot Spots in this game.
+ After each character's turn, you must roll to advance fire twice.
+ Each of the outside doors are locked. It takes one Chop Action (2AP) to break them down. Do not place a damage cube on the doors

Initial Explosions (do not place Hot Spots): (2,3) (3,6)

Hazmats: (2,7) (3,3) (6,7) (1,6) (3,7) (1,7)

POIs: (4,8) (3,1) (6,4)

Hot Spots: None

Re: Flash Point Challenges
We had a challenge in February too, but you haven't included that. Great to list these challenges in one thread.
Maybe include the highscore that was achieved by the challenge entrants.

You're right, Stig, there was a February challenge. I decided not to include it because there was nothing special about it. All I did was roll for the setup. There were no variant rules like there are in the others.

I do think posting the high scores is a good idea. I will add them shortly. Thanks!

I figured that was the reason, but I think it could be included as a variant setup and since we have highscores it might be fun to compare them.

Hi everyone. I just wanted to let you know that I posted the first challenge I made. It doesn't have any special rules, but has a specific starting setup. You can find it in the post with the rest of the challenges.

Also, I have included the winners of each challenge and their score. Can you beat it?

These are great! I may just be missing it, but is there a resource to design maps in the style of the original game? Or is each one designed from scratch?

Thanks. We just set up the maps using the normal method and used some fun sounding variant for the rules. I'm glad you like them.
