Hi all
Just an idea to run by everyone.

Fighter cover roll
1-2 poor
3-4 fair
5-6 good

This is for zones 2,3,4 all at the same odds to roll

So you could get poor fighter cover in zone 2 closest to England
and good fighter cover in zone 4 at the limit of fighter cover range..

My idea is
+1 to roll in zone 2
-1 to roll in zone 4

Would this mess the game up do you think
Just like to say i am loving playing the game with the rules as written..
Amos

I think of it as the fighter cover cant be everywhere consistantly.
some missions are going to have poor one day and good the next,
the number of fighter squadrons available just arent enough to do everything,..after all, escorting the 8th airforce was just one of many duties

also take into account that maybe they could of tangled with enemy formations before meeting the friendly bombers,or delayed for other reasons..
what might of started out as good cover when they took off dropped to fair or poor when met up with the bombers,as aircraft suffered mechanical problems, weather, contact with the enemy, poor navigation etc.

But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you… And I will beat you.

Michael has covered most the possibilities quit well yet there is another that was a major factor, rendezvousing. As the fighters came from another part of England and being MUCH faster than the four engined bombers, timing was a big factor. Many, many times the assigned fighter cover and the bombers just out right missed each other. Also as stated there were very few fighters in the early going.

Even the Germans had issues rendezvousing with their enemy, us!

I couldnt spell "rendezvousing" hence put "meeting"

How many of us have been told by our wives to meet them in town after a shopping trip etc, only for them to be in a coffee shop or store at the other end of town at the appointed time shake

and thats not several thousand feet up in the air trying to find in effect a small formation of aircraft..cool

laugh
