I heard two songs yesterday, and one of them must have been a ripoff of the other one. But one of them is fantastic and the other sucks.

Girl in a Country Song is really great. It has lyrics by women who turn down the stereotype that bro country is trying to promote so much lately, who go to a party so they can get picked up and ride along with a guy who just likes her because she's the best-looking girl there.

Yeah, the lyrics are just getting bad. The songs are catchy, but they're so anti-woman that it hurts. I listen to them but wish they'd just sing about something that wasn't filled with these stereotypes.

So Girl in a Country Song comes out...

What a great song! Making a stand! Women aren't just toys! It's fantastic!

Not five minutes later on a different station, I heard this one.

I couldn't believe it. It's the exact opposite of that first one. It hurts.

Never change, wytefang, never change. No matter how I feel about the thing, it is nice to know that some things will be constant for time immemorial.

Kind of creepy to have a 30+ years old dude making a living singing about spring break.

Of course many of those songs are written by other people:

Luke Bryan song probably mostly written by Dallas Davidson
Girl in a Country Song written with Aaron Scherz
Before he Cheats written by two men

etc.

Yep and based on interviews of some women who use sex as a way to express power and how much enjoyment they get out of it, I'm willing to say some women like being the whore.

Why settle for princess when she could be the queen of my double wide trailer?

Repeat these lyrics three times:

"I dug my key into the side,
of his pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive,
carved my name into his leather seats,
I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights,
slashed a hole in all 4 tires"

The modern equivalent to saying "Beetlejuice" three times?

Yeah. Objectification goes back to Stone Age art.

But hank Williams? What does the girl look like in that song? What is she wearing? What does he want to do to her?

That is a simple love song.

Tammy Wynette is singing songs about mature relationships. Very adult themes, and not in an x-rated context either.
