This card mentions that "In 1810 Madison broke off relations with any nation that wouldn't remove its blockade. France claimed they did and resumed relations, but actually didn't which led to the War of 1812."

I've already learned some new things from reading the cards - never heard of the Quasi War before - but I'm curious what this card refers to in history?

Thanks.

Hi Dave,
For more on the French Attacks on Shipping, you'll want to look up Macon's Bill No. 2. You can get some information here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macon%27s_Bill_Number_2

Wikipedia also has an article on the Quasi-War:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quasi-War

There's also a bibliography for the game at
http://spotlightongames.com/rules/Ff/bib/

Good to hear you're finding it interesting. Hope this helps.

Thanks! Never heard of the Macon Bill and its connection to the War of 1812, looking forward to reading more about it.

Also appreciate the bibliography list - we like to dig back to the original sources if possible. Too much revisionist history around anymore

If this game plays half as good as it looks, and you can get it into distribution channels, you may have a big hit on your hands.

Thanks again.

Thanks, Dave. I agree: Luca did a great job with the graphic design.
