Hi,

Are there any interesting games primarily targeted for adults that have farming as the theme.

Thanks

Hello Greg

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/browser.php?itemtype=game&sortb...

A friend of mind wants to buy her husband (who is a farmer) a farm game. She looked at "The farming game" but wasn't sure. She didn't want a standard roll-and-move. He farms dairy and crop (corn, potatoes, hay).

Thanks for the list

Greg

If he's not a regular gamer, I'd recommend "Settlers of Catan" (farming wheat and sheep), and after that, "Bohnanza" (raising comic-style beans). Both are good gateway games for non-gamers.

Much as I enjoy "Amun-Re", it's probably too complex for a first game.

I'd go for Bohnanza as well.
Santiago is the next option if the recipient already has some experience in eurogames.

Hacienda is farming in South America.

Also try searching the animal category as it crosses over to farm animals: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/browser.php?itemtype=game&sortb...

Amun Re, at the top of that list, is not much of a farming game. There is only one element of farming.

I would recommend Bohnanza as a starter game, but I really like Hacienda.

I'd highly recommend Santiago as the best eurogame with a farming theme. The game is all about trying to place and water your crops, and is a really fun game, especially if you have 5 people. One of the most interesting parts of the game is where people take turns being the canal overseer, and everyone else tries to bribe them to place a new canal near their crops, and people can work together to bribe them or go it alone.

If you can find it, and it is appropriate, Sim Farm on the PC wasn't bad.

I think the boardgaming world needs a farming game.

As others have said, either Santiago or Bohnanza should fit the bill. Both are a lot of fun, although both may be a bit tricky for a new gamer to pick up solely by reading the rules.
