devilsobluegulpWhy I am glad I have found Combat Commander!

Having said that, I would probably still play a dedicated ASL player. This is still a great graphic. (Don't worry Chad, I know you won't do this.)

OK, here is a German Panzer IV J and all the associated counters that might be played with it, save two if the comments are correct:

I know this post might get deleted, but the graphic was so cool, I had to post it somewhere!

A very fine 'One Picture' demonstration of why I sold all of my ASL stuff back in 2003.

I have CC but yet to play it my plan was to use it as a bridge to ASL. I look at that picture (linked above)and see a thing of beauty, with a little madness thrown in. I understand it not everyone's cup of tea and in this world of working overtime just to pay the bills who has the time to 'try' and master a game like ASL.

It's a dieing artform with an average age of approx 42 (don't quote me on this as I heard this on the two half squads podcast)and nearly all male. It may well disappear or be relegated to handfuls of people in 40 years of time such is life.

With a game like ASL I actually looked forward to retirement (well I did, it seems they want us to work into the grave, retirement age in Australia is already 70 and set to be raised to 75) when finally me and my friends could spend hours playing those monster scenario's and campaign games we don't have time for today plus a myriad of other great boardgames out there.

I've decided if I want to play a tank game, I'll play GMT's Panzer.

Haha, not THAT is funny!

To each his own. CCE runs rings around what a realistic combat mission feels like compared to ASL, partner.

Chaos Commander is a ride that takes a strong stomach to handle. How I have come to hate this game....

You have to, at least from a distance, look as if you know what you're doing, and I can manage that.

The last time I really played ASL was in a tournament. I actually tied for first (which really amazed me) even though I could barely remember all the rules.

My view of ASL is that it is your job to play correctly as much as you can. It is your opponent's job to make sure that you follow all the rules. There are just so many of them, there is no way you can remember them all. LOL

I definitely prefer CC or ASL, as I can actually remember all the rules.

As I say all the time, to each his own.

I like many aspects of ASL. But I've bought and sold 3 sets of the stuff over the years as it is not worth the cost benefit of play time to me. I do like the tanks though.

To others, ASL is the duck's guts which is great.

Variety is the spice of life, after all. And you can love both too, for different reasons of course.

Did I mention how much I HATE Combat Commander? Sometimes. Most times. Always. Occasionally.

It is best described as an abusive relationship that I keep coming back to...

That's a good thing. CC:E = less rules, more play

Panzer is still better than ASL for the same reason.

I have a love for CC. Every time I've attempted to cheat on it with another WWII tactical system, I've always came crawling back.
