I am not sure how they have made these damnable things so addictive but I cant leave them alone.

My current favourite is kitchen scramble but I have reached a point where I cannot go any further because non of my friends play. I object to having to pay for content of a free game... however I do keep looking at my debit card and thinking ... go on then one wont hurt.....sigh

anyone else struggle with this?
Are any of the game actually worth completing?

I have never struggled with it. I am REPULSED by the idea of paying for these games - because at some point, I will tire of them and then the money was for nothing.

Board games, Computer games, I get way more satisfaction from them and more replayability than from FB games which really require "friends" to play. Ugh. I DON'T LIKE PEOPLE! Leave me alone and stay off my grass, dagnabit... Well, actually, I do like people, but not for computer games.

While I don't have any desire to spend money on these games, I'm not sure I would say "the money was for nothing". I spend money on other forms of entertainment that don't last forever. Movies, amusement parks. Even some games, I play a few times, tire of them, and never play them again. But if I got my money's worth of enjoyment, then I don't know if it was wasted money, even if I don't enjoy them forever.

Again, I wouldn't spend money on things like this, as I think what starts as one little purchase can slide to "purchase ALL THE THINGS", and I don't know that *I* would get my money's worth out of enjoyment from doing so.

A) Don't pay, just do the free bits.
B) if you stop playing a game, do you find all the cash spent was wasted?

I am mortified to say that Kitchen Scramble is my favorite too ... I actually have reached out to friends that only played 1-2 levels, but never deleted themselves from the game, to demand they give me some help!

These games are designed in such a way as to make people keep wanting to come back for more, and to get players to spend money on them.

Most of these games are skinner boxes and/or designed to hook you and keep you going often times making spenders more powerful etc.

my take on it is that they are entertainment dollars and if you have entertainment dollars to spend they should be spent to entertain you.

some people i know of don't ever use their debit/credit card to play such games but add the additional step of buying giftcards to transfer money over that way. its an additional step in the process putting them more in control. its kind of similar to leaving all your credit cards at home when going to the casino.

sometimes purchases are acceptable and its not bad to pay for free software especially if its being added to etc. but there was a game that recently had a blatant money grab a short time ago where the released something new but you can only get it by winning events. and the latest event was that the top 30 purchases of the day all won one. i hadn't done the math but have seen that the difference between #1 and #30 and $3000. not to mention that they didn't actually show how much was spent just the differences to get to the next rank. so obviously it was successful but that's crazy IMO.
