I would take a chance and guess that many gamers who have purchased this are over thirty, perhaps over 35 and I might venture to say that even some of us are 40+.

I want to thank the publishers for their attempt at putting out a more clearly written manual.

The font resembles garamond. I am not a fan of garamond because the base font is too small, and the amount of space between lines is too large. The term might be font leading. This is the amount of space between character descenders and descenders and the next line above and below it.

I haven't done a test of the font size but it looks like 8 point font, and I might be wrong there, but whatever it is, it needs to be BIGGER.

Can someone in the myth company possibly listen and address this issue?

Thank you very much
Joel

I'll have to compare it to other games, but I am used to large rulebooks so I believe I have multiple ones with small font too. (am not over 40 - but comparative info would still be useful)

I know for sure I have had many cards in games that have small text.

Don't stress about it, you are just going to make up your own rules anyway.

Heh. Try reading the information in the Kickstarter Quest guide that came with the KS-backed base game. I love the fact that they made up so many quests but I can't read them, the font is so small.

Its no small task, if you will forgive the pun.

Thank you. More than half of you agreed so I know I'm not blind, maybe a bit crazed

It has been mentioned to the MERCS people from the beginning, but no reply that I know of.

[typesetting-geek]As an aside, yes, the term is leading*, but it's not measured based on ascenders or descenders. It's measured from the baseline of one line of text to the baseline of the line above (or below) it.

*Named from the days before phototypesetting (let alone Desktop publishing) when pages were composed with actual lead characters.[/typesetting-geek]

I thought I covered that, but yes. whistle

Named for lead-type (as in the metal), from when typeset pages looked like this:

Less than a years wait for me. Most print is illegible, but what annoys me most is when they print text on a coloured or textured/graphic background. It may look pretty but it's darned hard to read. It also wastes tons of ink when you print out updated rules etc.

My solution these days is to store pdf rules on my ipad and size them as required
