My choice for the next Wolf of the Week is someone I haven't played many games with, yet he has left an impression on me. Whether he's RPing a pathological liar or threatening to use a vigilante shot he doesn't actually possess, AntorchaAzul* is someone I always enjoy playing with.
BlueTorch wrote:
Thank you, Nessus77, for choosing me as Wolf of the Week!

While I’ve been aware of Werewolf for some time, I didn’t really get into it until playing in this game for Boomers; highlighted by me trying to get myself killed for three rounds as the Brutal Werewolf, being “Seer cleared” by the Tinker Villager, and systematically night killing every active Good player. I think it’s the last time I played in a Werewolf game that didn’t stress me out, either. I am not nearly as good as my brother at this game.

My real life werewolf experiences have involved bi-weekly sessions at the FLGS, which I pushed for after getting into Werewolf here. They typically involved me being night killed on N1, because I'm too "dangerous" to be kept alive. That meta took a very long time for me to change; I solved it by introducing the "Curt is alive so he must be a Wolf" WIFOM, to encourage evil to start sparing me.

Some fun facts about me; I have two wonderful children, zero regrets in life, and I've helped design four games in AEG's Thunderstone Advance line.

Poll
Two Truths and a Lie:
2 - The number of months I once played in my weekly gaming group without ever losing a game.
0 - The number of times I've been on a boat, even though I've been swimming since I was three years old.
4 - The number of different times I've broken bones in my body; all of them involved vehicles.

A few questions to start things off:

What is your favorite role to play?

What's your favorite role to pretend to be?

How old are your children? Are they girls, boys, or one of each?

Do you try to use math to solve all of your games?

How long have you been teaching math?

Have you ever considered trying to use Werewolf in the classroom?

Villager. Much prefer being on team good as opposed to team evil, and I feel the villager role gives me the most chance to improve.

Nessus77 wrote:

Vigilante!!! =D Who doesn't like threatening your fellow friends with violence, amirite?

Nessus77 wrote:

My daughter is four years old; an extremely mischievous, creative, and emotional redhead. My son is two years old, blows my mind with his intelligence with respect to his age, and follows his sister everywhere she goes. He also has a bit of a temper ^_^;;

Nessus77 wrote:
Do you try to use math to solve all of your games?

Really depends on the game, but yeah, I definitely calculate my plays, and it's almost always math based. In many games (especially towards the end) I find there is an objectively better play to be made, you just have to find it. (believe it or not, I am not an AP player)

Nessus77 wrote:
How long have you been teaching math?

Nine years, although I'm slowly transitioning to computer science lately.

How dare you not tell your brother you were WOTW! What is up with that?!

By the way, I checked, and you dodged this question the last time I asked it:

Were your life a film, what would be the soundtrack for different events and tones of it?

What would be the theme song?

I thought about rewording that question assuming the answer would be yes but I was too lazy.

AntorchaAzul!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eek!

Yay!

*Deep breaths*

Ok, so, confession time. I agonized for-like-ever over who to choose to make wolf of the week between Nessus and BlueTorch.
Then, finally, abruptly, it dawned on me that I could just make Nessus my wotw and then force him to make BlueTorch his!
Only... when it came time to make his decision, before I could even get out my [insert erotic-sounding kitchen utensil],
Nessus, just out of the blue, says "I'm going to make BlueTorch the next wolf of the week. What do you think?"

Blue! Congrats!

Can I call you Dabadee? Will you know that I'm talking to you if I do? Will you know why?

Okay - first standardish questions:

1 - Algebra or Geometry? (I'm not asking which type of math you teach, but which you prefer, as a person.)

2 - When is the last time you were upside-down? Stared off into the distance?

3 - Do you put any stock in Meyers-Briggs, and what type are you?

4 - Do you put any stick in Astrology, and what is your sign?

.......

Okay, Blue questions:

5 - What is the very most prettiest game you have ever: owned? played? decided to bring to GenCon this year?

6 - What is your favorite deck-building game? (I heard you really like Dominion - if that's your favorite, what is your 2nd?) When are you playing Time Masters with me? When are you playing Dominion with me?

7 - Tell me about some exotic, delicious food that I'm afraid to cook, but would be easier than it looks if I tried.

8 - Which part of Canadia are you from, anyway? What is your favorite thing about being Canadian? What is your favorite Canadian colloquialism? (Bonus question: Have I spelled "colloquialism" correctly?)

9 - What is your favorite WW moment/memory so far?

10 - Who is your favorite WWer whose name starts with "Ir" and end with "ix"?

11 - You said u prefer villager, yet you were wolf in your first game you call the only non-stressful one. Have you been wolf since? Maybe you just like being evil and are afraid to admit it.

12 - I love that you play adorable games with your kids! What is your favorite game to play with them and why?

13 - What is your favorite thing about your brother? Favorite memory/moment?

14 - What Village Square threads do you follow or post in?

15 - Do you have a favorite WW roleset?

16 - What is your favorite role to play in 2R1B?

17 - Where on the planet have you visited? What was your strangest travelling experience?

18 - Did you do any research for #10?

19 - What do you enjoy reading?

20 - What are some of your creative outlets?

21 - What is a quality or habit or interest you have that might surprise me?

22 - Which road sign would describe your life currently?

23 - Do you have a favorite romantic comedy?

24 - What is your favorite time of day? Season? (That should be up in the standards.)

25 - Did I ask more questions than Irwin?

26 - Did she ask more after this?

27 - Do you know what my favorite number is?

Haven't done either, would consider trying cliff diving though.

Aaaah probably none? Was a bit of a late bloomer.

irwin1138 wrote:

I can't drink anymore, but when I did I favoured Scotch and microbrews, in that order.

irwin1138 wrote:
What made you choose the names you did for your children?

I wanted unique names for them, which none/few of my students would possess. Asari came up pretty quickly, leeched off of the Mass Effect games. I just really liked the sound of it, and decided on it pretty early in the process. Quinn was much, much later and chosen based on a short story I wrote earlier. Another name I felt was sufficiently unique. In know cases, I "knew" my first kid was going to be a girl, and I "knew" the second would be a boy.

irwin1138 wrote:

Probably helping to break up my best friend's wedding. Yes there's a story there but I'm not telling it.

Would you like me to serenade you? Otherwise: Time's up!! The Brothers Torcio vs. Nessus/Irwin!! (I suggest you come up with a better team name )

irwin1138 wrote:

(I requested input from a friend on this one.)
Best attribute: Trustworthiness
Most unique: [REDACTED]
Second most unique: Resiliency and ability to heal.

irwin1138 wrote:

For work shoes I always wear brown Eccos. Took me a long time to found work shoes that were comfortable and have fallen in love with them ever since. They have my brand loyalty. Sneakers I don't care much and just shop for sales.

irwin1138 wrote:

Hummmm. I waver between a few Canadian bands. We'll go with Sarah Harmer or Tegan & Sara for now, but there are several correct options here. Unless I'm biking, then unquestionably Metric.

I do! I've recently taking it again, and I am ENFP, which is similar to past results. My E was only 1% preference (so almost no difference between E and I for me). People seem to expect me to be Thinking and not Feeling, although if you knew me you wouldn't be at all surprised I was F. And finally, my preference for N (introspective) was a whopping 100% (!). Could barely believe it when I saw it. Big time planner and future-thinker.

I can answer all three =D Nacht der Magier. You are welcome to try it! Plays up to 4 but needs to be played in a hotel room. Will also be bringing the visually appealing children's game Gulo Gulo.

Irina_Phoenix wrote:

Default answer has to be Thunderstone Advance, which I helped create. If you are looking for something outside of that, Core Worlds is a fantastically thematic and underrated game, which uses deck building in a very thematic way. (You only draw ten cards of hands all game as well)

Learned Time Masters on BGA recently, would be happy to play anytime I'm free. Dominion too!

Irina_Phoenix wrote:
7 - Tell me about some exotic, delicious food that I'm afraid to cook, but would be easier than it looks if I tried.

I'll just pick something simple actually, if you're looking for a visually appealing dish that takes some finesse - Tamagoyaki, a Japanese sweet omelet. I sometimes mess up the flipping still, but it's a big pleaser.

Irina_Phoenix wrote:

I'm from Nova Scotia, way on the east coast of Canada. We even have our own time zone over here; Atlantic Standard Time (which is one hour later than EST). Hard to go against the classic "Canuck" for a preference, and yes, you did spell colloquialism correctly. It's one of those words that seems like it would be difficult to spell, but follows phonetics pretty closely.

Irina_Phoenix wrote:
9 - What is your favorite WW moment/memory so far?

Tough call. I liked my first win as a Wolf that I talked about in the intro, surviving long enough as seer to propose a math solution to a game, and identifying every evil off of my D1 reads as a villager (and still losing).

Irina_Phoenix wrote:
10 - Who is your favorite WWer whose name starts with "Ir" and end with "ix"?

Awww, Irina =) You didn't have to ask something so narrow to be one of my favourites

Irina_Phoenix wrote:

Evil is stressful as hell!!! Anyone who knows my 2R1B style knows I tend to play honestly, so even if I sometimes pull it off, I find it difficult.

Irina_Phoenix wrote:

Hmmm, with Quinn I like Orchard, which is one of his favorite games and straightforward enough for a two year old to play. With Asari, which it isn't her favourite game, I looove Gulo Gulo. I think the game is just designed brilliantly; the catch-up mechanic is wonderful, adults have an advantage due to understanding tile strategy, while the kids have an advantage due to having tiny fingers =)

13 - What is your favorite thing about your brother? Favorite memory/moment?

First part is so hard to answer. I just love his creativity; the role plays, the PBF ideas, or just random ideas he comes up with in general. I could never hope to match him in a hundred years in this area. If I could pick another one, he is incredibly supportive of me, and always there for me in a heartbeat whenever I have a problem, a worry, or a concern. We have a pretty close bond. I also abuse my elder brother role, in giving him advice, and then bossing him into following it.

Memories, would have to pick some from my trip to visit. We ordered some pizza from the Mellow Mushroom, but they messed up the order somewhat so we had to wait around for twenty minutes. Erin, Gurt, and Allison waited in the car (it's cold outside, apparently), but David and I just waited outside the restaurant and chatted for awhile. I'd known him for more than a year at this point, but you're always curious when you actually get to meet somebody for the first time. I knew pretty quickly at that point that we'd be get along fine. Something pretty simple, but a nice memory for me.

Close seconds would be bagels and coffee together for breakfast while the others slept, and stomping Erin/Gurt in Time's Up devil
