If This Be Doomsday...

I've been getting into wargames over the past year (maybe a little too into them judging by my out of control spending habits), and this past weekend I traveled down to the Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA. While there, I watched a 45 minute IMAX film on D0day. I have to say, this movie was amazing, and I can't recommend it enough, especially to people who are starting to get into wargaming. It was one of the most informative films I have ever scene, and really did a great job analyzing the action from an operational standpoint. It gave me new perspective, and had me thinking of all the great games I can use to recreate some of this action.

If you are in the area, definitely check it out.

Agreed. Apart from being visually remarkable, it covers a lot of ground in a very even-handed manner.

Thank you for putting this on my radar! It is playing near me, and I now plan on seeing it next week.

In my opinion, most 3D films are just ok and I usually won't spend the extra money to see them but because this one uses a lot of graphics to explain the invasion the 3D looked spectacular. My wife enjoyed it as well and she doesn't even like war related stuff.

WoooooHoo! Playing at the World Golf Village IMAX, about 45 minutes from me! Playing the 31st, and I'm off work that day. I think the yard will have to go without mowing one more day this week.

Saw it at the Cosmosphere in Kansas. Enjoyed it. But. . .

The thing I noticed was most traveling shots were either from the land to the sea or were parallel to the coast. I wanted to see a shot going toward shore, the view the landing troops would have seen.

But very well done. Go see it.

I was in Chicago last week and saw the film. It serves well for both the history buff, and the person with no background on the topic.

Pair that with U-505 and a Stuka and you have a pretty good start of the day.

This entire country (Belgium) doesn't have a single IMAX screen.

When I saw it, it wasn't in 3D. don't think I missed much, but maybe I'll try to track it down in 3D. I want to see it again.

I ended up seeing this with my girlfriend in IMAX 3D today. Very much worth it. I learned a lot and it was very well shot and put together.

Thanks again for the recommendation.
