I designed a new table!!!
You can see it HERE!

A few month back I started looking into designing and building a table to match the Emissary in structure, and quality. This was the result.

Can you make me one for $1000 and have it ready within 6 months?

Looks great. Have you used it for gaming yet?

Is there anything that you'd change if you were to build another?

Just one game so far, and that was Rivet Wars: Eastern Front.... It's the only game I have that uses big "tiles" to set up the map (like Zombicide). Works well, and is plenty big enough to accommodate all my games, yet small enough to allow easy access anywhere on the board.

Honestly I love the table! So it will take a little bit to come up with a list of things I would change... but as of now, the only thing I would change would be to add drawers for storage. I could still add drawers to this one if I decided to.

It would also be nice to have a "sleeve/panel" system for the top, instead of one big insert. But I wasn't able to find a reasonable way of getting a smooth, flat surface.

Re: Game Table Project
If this had pull-out cup holder drawers, like high end poker tables, it would be 100% perfect. Awesome work.

I keep toying with different alternatives to the huge wait list for a Geek Chic table, and posts like this keep me motivated. Very, very cool.

I 100% agree! I have some ideas of putting a cup holder system in... But by the time this table was "done" I was anxious to start using it whistle I will most likely do some kind of pin attachment from underneath. I just am feeling lazy

I am using a suction cup made for lifting glass which seems to be working well.

Awesome work, so what was the cost?

I am so tempted to replace our dining room table with something like this so we have multiple game tables to play on, but she keeps resisting.... However she is letting me do the coffee table so I guess I should be happy with that.

Thanks! Just under 200... 150 for the red oak, and roughly 40 bucks for the other supplies.

It actually was a lot less of an involved project then I thought! And a whole lot cheaper. It took me a couple months just only because I was busy with life But if I did this again, I could probably get it done in a week or 2 max.

Definitely worth it!

vs. $2750 for the base Emissary.... Nice savings, that translates into a lot more games .

But now I have to go waste money in a failed attempt to duplicate your great work.

Well if you do make one, put it up on BGG! It seems that the I-love-the-geek-chic-table-but-don't-have-money community is never lacking for good pictures and plans for their own creations

Ok, I'm impressed. This is one of the best DIY gaming tables I've seen. I may actually prefer this over the Geek Chic model, ridiculous cost aside.

Good job!

Here are a few of the sketch up images of the construction.

And a couple top layout options that I was considering. I landed on the left one.

Oh Lord, thank you mate, I was getting crazy in trying to understand how suddenly there was a bezel section appearing from seemingly nowhere.

Now the design makes sense to me.

Great job!
