Player A has 1 brown tower, 4 high
Player B has 1 brown tower, 2 high
Player C has 2 brown towers, 2 high

Player A gets 4 pp to Player A for the highest brown tower
Player B & C tie for 2nd, worth 2 points.

Do you count 3 towers for the split on second place and round up (2 pp divided by 3 making each tower worth 1 pp so that Player B gets 1 pp and Player C gets 2 pp)?

Or do B&C each split 2 evenly, giving them each 1 pp?

We are not playing with lighted windows yet.

Ties are split among the players, not the towers. At least, that's how I do it.

The points available are divided by the number of towers and rounded up. The result is then awarded for each tower the tied players have. In your example, the 2pp for second place is divided by 3 and rounded up to 1 point per tower. Player B gets 1 point and player C gets 2 points.

Yes, ties are definitely divided by towers not players. I've often build a pair of towers of the same color and height to force a tie with myself because the round up rule means I get extra points. If it was divide by players this wouldn't be possible.

And, that'll teach me to answer without double-checking the rules. Garry and Andrew are right. It's towers, not players.

Sorry to revive this thread.
If there is a tie for first, is there still a second place?

I believe the rule is that the two tying players divide the combined points for first and second place. The player with the second highest tower is actually in third place behind the two players with tied highest towers so he gets no points.

On the other hand, if one players has the highest tower and two other players are tied for second highest then the player with highest gets all of the first place points and the two tying players divided just the second place points.

So, assuming the first and second place points are 8 and 4:

Player A: Tower of five pieces = 8 points
Player B: Tower of four pieces = 4 points
Player C: Tower of three pieces = 0 points

Player A: Tower of five pieces = 8 plus 4 divided by 2 = 6 points
Player B: Tower of five pieces = 8 plus 4 divided by 2 = 6 points
Player C: Tower of four pieces = 0 points

Player A: Tower of five pieces = 8 points
Player B: Tower of four pieces = 4 divided by 2 = 2 points
Player C: Tower of four pieces = 4 divided by 2 = 2 points

No matter how they get divided up, it's always a total of twelve points that are being distributed.

Thanks! And as mentioned before, you divide the points between the number of towers and not number of players. Each tower in that division nets the owner points.
