Where is the best place to get pluck foam?

Is there somewhere to get a firmer base for it too?

Try your LGS. A few store near me (VA) carry it.

If you can find it there, miniature market has some, not sure what your price range is. They sell it by tray or full kit.

Depending on what you want, I might have some I can sell pretty cheap.

I bought a lot here: http://www.foambymail.com/

I use that foam you can get to make cutouts in the craft section as a base sometimes. It's firmer. Pretty much the same stuff some foam tray companies use but it's thinner in the stores but still works. Also have 1/4 foam sheet that works but isn't totally rigid.

I use the APC by Portable Warfare for X-Wing, Star Trek Attack Wing, and Golem Arcana figs. IIRC it's about $14 at miniature market.

I priced "gun cases" at local Sporting Goods stores but when with something from Staples (pluck foam in hard shell case). Paid about $50 USD for it. Can't find it their website or I's e-mail the URL.

How many ships are you able to get into one of those APCs?

I use the "Blu Foam" found here, at the bottom of the page:

http://www.portablewarfare.com/products/

I like the blue layer, which is more rigid. I pluck it with a mix of my finger and an x-acto knife.
