Welcome to "THE BOARD!"

Or should we say...

Boards!

As in...

More than one!

Yes, that's right, there was just one, but now there are two boards.

It's actually a TWO-SIDED board to be precise.

One side is the "primary" board, which uses the "regular" lay-out, and the other side is...

The Unterbelly, which is a completely different lay-out that uses the same buildings and streets (etc) as the "regular".

Ready to take a peak?

Here ya go...

THE PRIMARY BOARD (WHICH WE ARE ABOUT TO PRINT)
http://www.commonman.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Board_Ma...

THE UNTERBELLY BOARD (WHICH WE ARE ABOUT TO PRINT)
http://www.commonman.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Board_Un...

Just a few notes...

COMPASS - As you likely already know, the 1st Edition had the compass messed-up (E/W reversed). This was a very unfortunate thing to have happen. Since that is the case, we want the 2nd Edition to have the compass corrected and to have NO mistakes anywhere else in the game, but most especially on the board!!!!

CHECK-LIST - We have tried to catch anything and everything prior to posting this here on BGG. We recently did one final check over and found nothing wrong. To do this, we used a check-list and carefully viewed both boards side-by-side, and compared them to the real 1st Edition board. We had 23 items on our check list X 2 sides (both boards), so a total of 46 check marks to make.
Well...
Here we are, 46 marks later (along with 5 full groups of Editors)...
All I can think to say is: Hopefully if there is anything wrong at this point, someone will notice before we go to print!
(fingers crossed)

blankblankblankTHANKSblankblankblank

And our standard little...

Plea for help:

These components we have shown you today have been looked over by our editors, but...

Maybe YOU can find a misspelling, a typo, or some other error.

If you do...

Please let us know so we can correct it prior to printing.

and...

Thanks!!!

The Unterbelly (don't you mean "Underbelly"? ... see my post elsewhere) seems to have lost the all things readable from the bottom or left side of the board rule...

Hey William!

Unterbelly is a new compound word we coined.

(German/English combo)

For a little closer look at it see rulebook page 21.

I did not (yet) see your other post.

Can you provide a link?

Thanks!!!!

Is there an issue of possible confusion with 5th Street?

Maybe!?!

I am wondering about this, because I got this email...

The boards look amazing! I love all of the little details. The board really has a dirty city feel. Numbered streets are in order. I didn't see any misspellings. I like the fact that the turn track is a calendar. By the way, can you use your car on that street the calendar is on? It looks like you could. I guess that would be "5th Street" if so.

Having received this, I think that maybe it's...

Poll time!!!!

I want to hear from anyone and everyone who knows the game.

Poll
When I look at the new boards, and I contemplate the idea of driving my character's vehicle on the Calendar Track, here is what I think...
No way would I ever image that this could be done, I have no confusion about this personally, and can't image that anyone would.
Well, it does sort of look like you might be able to drive on the calendar track.
Yes, I do think it looks like some one could drive on the calendar track.

Thanks in advance to anyone who weighs in on this question!!!

What about putting a curb on the east end of each Colfax and Calhoun Avenues, so that it doesn't look like there's a "5th Street?" Putting grass (or something else to show that it is not a street) under the track would work too.

Now that I'm thinking about it...if it is too late to modify the board, I'm sure if you just mention it in the rulebook that you can't drive onto the calendar track, that should take care of it.

That might be the way to go on this.

It seems silly to me. It doesn't look like you can drive on it, and even if you did think you could there would be no strategic reason to actually do it anyways. I don't think you really need to do anything here.

Hey Mike!!!

There is one reason you might want to do it...

If traffic is blocked for some reason (e.g. Accident).

I never made a secret about the fact that I thought that the 1st edition board looked too grey and - sorry - a bit boring, so my expectations for the 2nd edition were pretty hight.

It's obviously also a challenge, as there are so many streets on the board, which have to be grey.

My opinion on the new boards: wow. Excellent job !
I like how all the different (relatively bright) colours are equally balanced out on this board. The details are beautiful. The double-sided print is really great. And the compass is correct.

The only small thing I would change is the label for the Police Precinct itself: reading "Second Edition" is a bit anti-thematic and the blue shining outline looks a bit strange (unless the police uses a neon sign ).
But anyways, really awesome job ! thumbsup

UPDATE:
THE FACTORY HAS THIS ONE ALREADY
Meaning that we here at CMG have sent this item on to the factory for production.
What does that mean?
Well...
They are, at first interacting with us on a proofing process, and then beginning actual production.
Ssssooooo...
Unless someone discovers a major mistake, it's unlikely that this item will turn out any different than you see here.

Thanks, and Stay Tuned for continued updates!

The board text "Bad Hood #s" look unclear to me. I believe a different font might improve this.

(Perhaps for 3rd edition.)
