Any way this could be played 2 player? It's discouraging that the pirate theme seems to only be playable with 3+.

I doubt it. It'd just end up as a ping-pong match -- I move the naval ship 3 spaces forward, you move it 3 space backwards.

One thing they could've done is add rules for an "AI" player. That would resolve the issue.

I'm pretty sure in one of the other threads, the designer had mentioned that there was a 2-player variant that he had created, and that he would release it to us on BGG once the game was properly released...
