As you may know now, we've opened up 6 and 7 players for the game. That means we need 7 ships total. I've drawn 6 new ships and have put them with the current 5 ships down below.

Now we'd love to hear your thoughts and vote on your favorite ones!

EDIT: SHIPS HAVE BEEN CHOSEN!

Very difficult choice. Come on stretch goals! Why are we not funded yet? This game is great.

I voted for starship enterprise and '60s rocketship. Either go way future or way retro, right?

You mean 60s or 60s?
(Original Star Trek was 1966-1969.)

This is indeed a tough choice. I don't think you can really go wrong with any of them.

I made my selections based on how well I thought they fit with the theme/feel of the game. And primarily so that all 7 would look significantly different.

I would be disappointed to see both 6 and 10 in the game, as I feel they are too similarly shaped. Same with 2 and 5.

I would just be disappointed to not hit the ships funding goal! But I think I would get over it pretty quickly, since I'll still be so excited about the game. And besides, we're totally going to get it.

I was talking "matters" as in reaching the stretch goal, not as in you listening or not.

Oh I see. Well, the designs above will be used on the Ship cards and Ship tokens if we don't reach the plastic ships (which we will) so they still matter.

Currently my votes are:
-Notbattlestar
-Notslave1
-Notserenity
-Notnaboostealthship
-Notraider
-Notenterprise
-Flying saucer (might change to classic rocket)

What I'm more curious to see is the models for said ship designs. I think some ships lend them selves more to models while others lend themselves better to icons.

Hopefully we don't get two very similar ships, like the swoopy U shaped ones, or the 1-4 ones or the 2-5 ones together as I'd like it if the ships were very drastically different shapes. Kind of sad the saucer isn't doing as well, the classic round ship is kind of being under represented in the world of sci fi now adays.

If we're doing 60's designs, then you could probably alter #11 to look like a yellow submarine pretty easily. I agree, pick ones that look different, and if we do get plastic, use designs that won't be overtly fragile.

I'm fine with the stance but then 6 needs more votes. I'm disappointed that the not cylon ship is on the outside looking in. However I don't think 2 and 5 are anything alike since I'm assuming 2 is standing up and 5 is laying down.

To your suggestions for selection I would add that we should have as many references to different pop culture as possible. I don't want a game that is just Not Star Wars and Not Star Trek. A little firefly, Close Encounters, BSG is a good thing.

To be honest I'm not sure what/if the references are for 1,2. I have some ideas but they are a stretch.

Since the Not Slave 1 is cooler looking than the Century Eagle I'm fine with the way that vote is going.

All look great and it is a real shame some won't make it. I like the drone one too (9) because it is different. :-)

But the poll is really close.. none is really left behind (except funny 11) or big in the lead.

Could somebody help me identify each ship based on its inspiration? I'm just a curious George.

#01:
#02: Planet Express Ship - Futurama (1999)
#03: Slave 1 (Boba Fet) - Star Wars (1980)
#04: Serenity - Firefly (2002)
#05: Nubian Royal Starship - Star Wars (1999)
#06: Cylon Raider - Battlestar Galactica (1978)
#07: Flying Saucer - The Flying Saucer (1950)
#08: Starship Enterprise - Star Trek (1966)
#09:
#10:
#11:

On an unrelated note I voted /2/5/4/10/3/9/7/ in that order of preference.

I don't see why there should be any kind of problem. These are obviously original art, and it's only a silhouette. They may've been inspired by the sources you list, but that should be fine. However, I suppose a "just in case" approach is wisest.

I fell in love with the initial 5 designs on the kickstarter home page (#'s 7 to 11) because they look great and are so distinctive from each other. Of the new ones, #2 looks like it also would stand out as unique among these but, to me, the other new ones look like variations of something that's already there.

You missed #01: Not Battlestar (Galactica) - Battlestar Galactica (1978/2004)

I think #2, #7 and #8 look the coolest, and then I'd want #1 and #4 to make it in because of what they look similar to
