Terra Mystica second play on lodev.org/tmai, finished in 2 hours. This time, I'm the Alchemists & the AI - Halflings. The Alchemist wouldn't have tough time to accumulate coins because their Stronghold gain coins as income each round & they can also convert victory points to coins. That is also the reason I rushed into upgrading structures to Stronghold in the first round. Again, I will try to grab the priests any way I can to top all cult tracks and also used them to advance my shipping skill. The round scoring tiles again favour Halflings with digging as some cult bonuses. Because of Halflings capability, I have to also compete for digging special action & block their mad expansion. Workers are scarce early in the game but bountiful towards the end. My first town was founded in Round 3, second town in Round 4 & third town in Round 6 (shipping skill & 2 red favor tile save the day!). Thanks to advanced shipping skill I developed throughout the game, I also claim the largest territory, although Halflings nearly took over the land with all their dwellings that popped out like mushrooms. I passed second in every rounds. From this second play, I gather that you have to really know your faction's strengths & weaknesses & also your opponents to plan ahead. Work on resources that hard to come by for your faction. Victorious 3 towns! Alchemists 121 vs Halflings 104.

I recommend giving terra.snellman.net a go. AI's are good as an initial opponent to learn the game. But only human opponents can really show you the true depth of the game. I've not won once on snellman, yet I'm learning a lot.

Yes, it seems to be. In my first play, the AI failed to upgrade their shipping skill (Witches). This time, the AI put their initial dwellings too far apart from each other.
Edit: And on the cult tracks, they were all too far behind
