It is lighter and faster than Caylus.

Spyrium is a good game, but not great.

King of Tokyo doesn't feel like MtG. It Happens.. doesn't feel like Amerigo. Not sure why Spyrium should feel like Caylus.

I get why the OP is asking the question. Sometimes designers will have similar mechanisms in games, or a favorite design pattern that they often use that gives their games a familiar feel with their other games.

But yeah, I agree these two particular games are not very similar.

I certainly would admit that Caylus is the grander and deeper game and is considered a classic whereas Spyrium most likely will never be called such, but I would much rather play Spyrium.

Spyrium is a lighter and quicker game even than Caylus Magna Carta, let alone Caylus... but it's very clever and enjoyable. I wouldn't turn down a game
