It looks completely out of place on the player boards, and just mucks up the art. And then it is on all the bags as well. The only people seeing the components are the people who already bought the game..

It confuses me.

I kind of agree. My guess as to the rational is that it's a gateway game, so non-gamers might play it with a friend, think it's really fun, and want to buy a copy. Maybe they want the name stuck in peoples' heads?

That must be it. If not I would probably have put chickens and apples in my copy of TI3.

I for one like it:

on the bags, it looks like a nice complementary bag to the rest of the game.
on the boards, even now trying to think about it... I liek it; it's stylized enough to fit nicely.
