Sword of the Electors

Once again, for events we roll 1d6, 1-3 use card and 4-6 roll on one of the charts in the Role Play Book.

When Ragnar, Unthwe, Thorgrim Cragbrow and Alric Whitecloak failed tor return from their quest to reclaim one of the fabled swords of the Elector Counts under the Worlds Edge Mountains, the Emperor summoned yet another band of foo... er, I mean warriors to venture forth and reclaim the blade from the clutches of the foul Idol far underground.

To come forward this time are:

Wulf the Barbarian, Talion the Elf, Rorek Forkbeard the Dwarf and the Wizard Dieter the Black.

The warriors enter the dungeon into a t-junction and decide to head left. They enter a long hallway and pass through it without inccident.

Wulf peers through the archway with his lantern and uncovers the Dungeon Cell, but before the party can enter the room beyond, they are set upon by 2 Goblin Spearmen and 3 Night Goblin Archers.

Wulf swings wildly at the Goblin who faces him and misses. Talion moved with great speed upon the Night Goblin Archers and cuts through the foul throat of one of them with his sword. The swing carries on and slays the second Night Goblin and then Talion cuts down the third Archer! Dieter attacks the Goblin Spearman in front of Wulf with his sword and slays it. Rorek steps forward and smashes the other Goblin Spearman with his huge axe. Amongst the dead bodies Wulf discovers the Holy Artefact. He gives it to Talion for killing most of the Goblins.

The adventurers finally move into the Dungeon Cell and head for the other door waiting for Talion, who was still in the corridor, to catch up to them. A pit opens up under the Barbarian Wulf and he plummets to the rocky bottom suffering 4 wounds. Rorek tosses one end of the rope down to Wulf and hauls him out of the pit. The rope however snaps and is useless.

When Talion caches up to the rest, Wulf reveals another long hall in the lanterns light. They enter the hall and make it to the other end safely. Dieter casts Heal Wounds upon Wulf and he regains full health.

Next the heros enter the Circle of Power where Dieter finds himself set upon by a mighty Minotaur!

Before the battle though, Wulf shines the lanterns light into yet another corridor beyond the archway.
The Wizard Dieter casts Lightning Bolt and as his body crackles with electical energy, a bolt of pure power shoots forth from his eyes and strikes the Minotaur for 8 wounds! the beast was now down to 7 wounds. Wulf leaps into action going berserk, but his wild swings miss the Minotaur and strike both Rorek and Dieter for 1 wound each. Talion takes aim with his bow and arrow, but misses. Rorek the Dwarf swings his great axe and connects doing 4 more wounds to the beast who now has 3 wounds left. The creature belows with rage and swings his huge spiked club down upon Dieter. The first blow misses, but the second one hits Dieter who then collapses to the floor with 0 wounds.

Before its too late, Dieter is able to cast Heal Wounds upon himself and is back on his feet with 5 wounds. Now before the battle with the Minotaur proceeds, 9 Dark Elves armed with crossbows appear. Four in the hallway ahead and five in the hall behind! Wulf manages to stab the Minotaur through with his sword and slays it. Searching the Minotaurs body quikely he finds a measly 3 gold. Talion moves to the side of the room and fires his bow at one of the Dark Elves but misses again. Dieter moves off to one side of the room. Rorek moves back to the door the warriors came from and swings his axe through the open doorway slaying one Dark Elf and severely injuring another one who has 1 wound left.

Now it was the Dark Elves turn. The first volley of crossbow bolts cut into Dieter and leave him sprawled upon the floor once again with 0 wounds.

Talion too is sent to the floor with bolts in him and 0 wounds left. Wulf is severely wounded but remains on his feet. The Dwarf Rorek is wounded also but none to badly. Talion manages to gulp down his Healing Potion and is brought back to full health. No such luck for Dieter who succumbs to his wounds.

Next, Wulf leaps into the the doorway opposite Rorek and swings wildly at one of the Dark Elves but does not connect. Talion manages to hit a Dark Elf through the same door Wulf was at with an arrow and slays it. Rorek attacks the Dark Elf with 1 wound and kills it.

The next hail of crossbow bolts brings down Wulf!

And then Talion too!

Rorek Forkbeard decides to escape! But, he falls flat on his face in his attempt!

The first crossbow bolt pins him to the floor. The second one finishes him off.

Yet, another group of Warriors is decimated! Will the Sword of the Electors ever be rocovered? Stay tuned to find out.

Aren't you unable to cast healing spells while on zero wounds?

According to the roleplay book "the only cures a warrior on zero wounds may administer to himself are magic potions and special magic healing items" (pg 12).

The Wizard was on zero wounds when the Heal Wounds spell was cast to bring him back up to 5 wounds, however on the following turn a 1 was rolled in the Power Phase and the Dark Elves showed up. The Wizard player only had 1 power and 2 power tokens to use that turn. Heal Wounds requires 4 Power to cast and so when the Dark Elves fired their crossbows in the Monster Phase the Wizard was brought back down to zero wounds again. He did not have enough power to cast Heal Wounds and no one could help him, so by the end of the turn he died.

He is referring to the fact that an unconscious Wizard (0 Wounds) cannot cast spells.

My mistake! We played it wrong, but we never benefited from this mistake as all of the warriors died anyways. Next time we play we are going to use warriors we have never played before.
