Nope. In a tournament, it's free for all - everybody against everybody. There are no alliances in a tournament.

In case of a five manager-game there are 5 "zones" around the championship cards. Every team competes against every other team. You can choose who to tackle, etc. when assigning your player to the matchup.

Just imagine that they're set up like this instead.

...and then, forget that anybody is adjacent to anybody else.

Free for all. No alliances. Everybody can attack everybody. Nobody is blocked from attacking anybody. Nobody is safe from anybody's attacks.

Is this a 5-player variant or something?

Because I thought Blood Bowl: Team Manger was a 2-4 player game.

Blood Bowl: Team Manager – The Card Game – Foul Play adds a fifth player. I think this thread fits for the base game anyway though, as this is the only five player rule:

Foul Play Rulebook wrote:
Managers should follow all the normal rules found in the base game when playing with five managers.

Tournaments work exactly the same way in the base game, too.

I see. Thank you.

I'm still waiting on my copy to arrive at my local game store. *grumble*

Sorry, just another stupid question.

When tournament happens, are we still placing highlights as well?

So if player decided not to participate in tournament, is he collecting looser reward?

Nope.

Rulebook page 13 wrote:
Tournament Payouts

The winner of the tournament collects the payout next to the trophy. The manager with the second-highest Star Power is the runner-up, who collects the payout next to the ribbon. All other managers who have at least one player at the tournament collect the “LOSE!” payout.
