Hello. I wonder if someone still follows this forum but anyway I'd like to share some suggestion of our group.

In our 4 player session we had a lot of down-time. Some was inevitable anyway when during one event there were 4 battles between one couple of players and no other battles.

But still, during last battle event we had something like 3-5 battles per player, so about 10 battles with one player engaged with every another one at least in one battle

So, after the game we proposed a house-rule for such cases to enforce simultaneous battles (not just encourage as in basic rules).

The rule states following:

1. At the beginning of Battle Event first player chooses one of his battles to resolve.

2. Then the next of unengaged players must choose one of his battles with other unengaged players to resolve.

3. In the game of six players, repeat second action.

All chosen battles are resolved simultaneously.

This isn't ideal rule since it still doesn't equalize massive important battles between two heavy fleets with unimportant ones about 2 frigates and 4 strike crafts. But it can save some time in cases with multiple important battles for one player who can't decide which is more preferrable.

Thanks for taking the time to post!

It seems important to be able to predict the order of the battles, so that you can plan on when to use your most valueable ships and also so you can plan on an appropriate time to try and draw out an opponents flagship by attacking him in more battles than his ships can support.

That being said, if your house rule allows the players to predict the flow of the battles and plan accordingly, it would still accomplish this mechanic and not effect the game in any negative way.
